As a native Ney Yorker (well...I was born there and spent many summers there with Grandparents), I will very much enjoy this scenery. I try to accommodate fellow freeware contributors in the best way I can...which is with my "mad skillz" in aircraft painting, LOL. If you happen to be a PMDG DC-6 owner, and have a livery that is not done yet you'd like to see (although there are already over 200 of them on flightsim.to), let me know and I'll see what I can do. 😉 Can't wait for that! Real life work demands....no truer words have ever been spoken. If I could find a way to make aircraft painting pay as much as my real job...I'd be there. The same offer I made Ed regarding the DC-6 applies to you as well. 😉 Click the link in my sig to see the paints I've done already. Thanks for the offer Steve, and nice work on NYC Ed. BTW, I did buy the Samscene stuff, but I love your buildings here more (esp the stadiums, Yankees and Arthur Ashe, etc ... need to get Giants and Mets stadiums made too). I'm torn with all of this, there is never a "complete" answer. I like your buildings, but then I'd loose the Occulus at the WTC, and they did do a nice version of TImes Square that looks good at street level. I also like Samscene's "finished" Hudson Yards buildings, but they forgot the Vessel (of all things!). Would be so nice if there was a way to cherry pick from packages ... a pipe dream I know given how the scenery system architecture works. As for the DC-6, I have purchased it, but it awaits my having some time to learn it. Whatever free time I have has been spent in the H145 lately, esp flying around the Alps... ( btw, COMPLETE TANGET here (forgive me all) ... speaking of the Alps, I found the meadow where they filmed the opening scene of Sound of Music the other day. All it took was a little Googling to find the location (just over the border into Germany from Salzburg), then a little more detective work to pinpoint the exact spot.. and when I did as I lowered into the meadow it was like BAM! Holy word not allowed, there it was, an it was a nearly exact match to the frame of the film. As it was I was in VR and felt like a proper movie tourist! I LOVE this sim! There are Sooo many ways to use it beyond the obvious. When I get some time, I'll go back and nab some screenshots. ) ... back to Steve. If I think of something livery wise I'll hit you up! 🙂 Edited September 14, 20214 yr by VFXSimmer

The Citi Field (NY Mets) has a good 3D model available at 3D warehouse but... when it's converted to MSFS textures format it fails to load a bunch of them making the model unusable for MSFS. It's a shame, because it was a really nice 3D model. Maybe someone else has more information on the 3D models available for the Citi Field that can share with us. Finding nostalgic places you've been is great! .. especially if its unlikely you will never get back there again for real. I think its time to learn mission building - I could put together a movie location tour - starting with the ones I worked on- and can easily find the ones from a bunch of famous films that I havent that have that info posted on the web. Looks like you're enjoying that girl, even if she's 60... 56 minutes ago, Steve Dra said: Sadly I'm not well versed in the ways of default MSFS aircraft....the best I ever did long ago was play with the paint "chips" that come with the planes, and could never figure out how to package them with all the jsons and stuff. Anyone with the free paint.net could whip out a paint using the chips in the existing folders, changing the colors. 😉 Of course you're going to overwrite that paint (but you've backed it up naturally.) No problem, Steve, thanks!. Is there any chance you could make a 2nd version that's compatable with SamScenes New York, i.e. excluding the buildings that overlap? I bought it recently but it looks like you have added many buildings he does not and it would be fantastic to use both. Thanks in advance if that's possible.
September 14, 20214 yr 34 minutes ago, edpatino said: Looks like you're enjoying that girl, even if she's 60... For sure! She is not a "Turn the key and go" type of plane...and you have to be cognizant of the daily maintenance (topping off or checking the oil, because she BURNS it...a lot, and PMDG has persistence modeled into the aircraft, so EACH airframe is being tracked for engine time, fluid quantities (even water...needed for water-injected takeoffs)...so do a "wet" takeoff in N451CE a few times, put her in the barn and don't refill the tank, and fly the Braniff airframe for a while. Then hop back in N451CE, taxi out to the runway, calculate you need a wet takeoff...don't check the water tank level, and set takeoff power, flip the water injection on ....takeoff...run out of water just after rotation, and sink into the tree line and parish 😞 Not saying its ever happened to me....but this plane forces you to not get complaint...and I like that 🙂 Other little nuances you don't initially notice, but when you do, you just say..."cool"....like when you rev the engines past a certain rpm when the gens are more effective, and see the dim landing lights get progressively brighter on the pavement as the RPMs increase...yeah...those little nuances. 🙂 Not trying to sell you the plane in any way...just want folks to know how much PMDG put into this bird. I'm on the PMDG beta team, and was offered it for free...but I paid the $50 for it as I felt is was worth it, if for nothing else to thank PMDG for all they've added to the enjoyment of my hobby over the decades.
