The misrepresentation of the Steam version in this thread is baffling. It's literally more straight forward than the version from the Microsoft Store in terms of updating and folder usage. Not that it matters to the thread creator now, of course.

Oh, but there are. Lots of folks do not consider themselves blessed by the MS Store implementation and its evolution. Comparatively, the Steam installation does not seem to elicit nearly the magnitude of public discontent that the MS Store version does. Whether one uses the Steam app or the XBox app, one is still "putting [a] piece of software between the product and its installation routines." And then there's the issue of the installation file structure. The XBox version uses obscure naming and prevents modification of data in the store library. The Steam version does not. So, as always, caveat emptor--"let the buyer beware". One can do a little proactive Google-Fu and learn from those that have gone before them...or not. Many use the Store version w/o problems--I certainly have and many many others. MS develops the Xbox App, therein is a big diff between it and Steam, and further MSFS now deploys on both Win 10/11 and Xbox. Perhaps Steam is best for those who don't read the instructions on how to use the Store in MSFS. That is what I did... dedicated 500 GB SSD for MSFS. 4 MB on C Drive. Thanks a lot, that sounds like the solution to go for.
