September 23rd, 2021 - Development Update

Really hope they can fix the bush trips...even the new ones created for WU6 don't work after leg 1. I know we've been beating on the QA process but this is asinine...

Have the devs said why there isn't a World Update scheduled?

Poor ai traffic.

You can probably give it a rest as I've seen you complaining about this on a number of occasions and different threads. You should probably not expect anything done until sometime in 2022, given they have bigger fish to fry (as in bugs that are over a year old.) Aerosoft needs to hurry up on their livery mod to patch this ugly hole at least until we get AIG to work.

Can't wait for this. The last update from them sounded promising.

Thank you very much for this appreciation, but you know, large companies always wait for the customer to tire. When he does, they have won. In my case, I will continue saying the same thing, not because I like war, but because I cannot bear the unjust. What is unfair? that they sell us a product and that we do not have part of the product. If I buy a shoe box, both shoes have to be there: not one. MSFS has good graphics, but the clouds have gotten worse, updates are mandatory and we always have CTD, and the worst (in my case) is that the actual air traffic is non-existent. Because I have a sense of humor and patience, I keep saying the same thing. I really appreciate your words, and if you are outraged like me: join. The more we say,: the more they hear. A hug!!!

The problem is AIG claiming all the freeware AI models ever made are theirs. We would have all the AI you could wish for half year ago if they weren't egocentric and stubborn as they are. I'm not making this up, I'm a dev of a AI traffic addon, bullied by AIG.

I don't think the authors of the existing models wouldn't want their models out there in MSFS. It has nothing to do with protecting copyright. Most of them seen to have disappeared from the planet anyway.

How right you are! I don't personally know all the model builders, but when I was using Prepar3d and fsx, there was NO problem. We all used what they had put on the net for free. The fact that now, with MSFS, it is not possible, seems to come from an Agata Christie novel. Who refuses? Them or asobo? If Asobo refuses: why doesn't AIG fight and speak out and give us a hand? If the AIG people refuse: why doesn't Asobo show its elegance and fight them with some great models? is it a question of money or ego? Anyway: AIG has used for many years, repaints from airlines that have not been asked permission to be displayed on their models. No one has called, for example, air hamaica, iran air, china southern, etc, etc ... to ask them. Actually, all our computers are full of those models, which we have downloaded for free from the net for years. I know many converters. It is really easy to do. I knew self-centeredness but I didn't think it was capable of going against themselves.

In any case, I keep saying that Asobo has sold a product that promised REAL air traffic and I have been trying for a year to get an ugly "generic" plane take off from LEMD. I don't think it's because of its developers. I think it is the bosses who move the money.

I have a Japanese friend who tells me that in two days, all those models can be converted and improved by himself for msfs. And that, if he wanted, he can create new ones, so that AIG see that they are not alone in the world. I think the time has come. 🙂

Odd... how can the mirrored livery textures (e.g. reversed names) be 'not planned'?  After a year? I don't get it.  It must be something magical.

Because they want us to make liveries the same way they do, by using the decal system and baking the liveries into the plane models.

That's not true at all. They only claim the liveries/models they've made themselves. The other models/liveries they distribute with their flightplans they're doing so with permission from the original authors.

If you want to use the models/textures, ask the original authors permission to use them.

This is true, but effectively only AIG has been given that permission. And don't tell me there was no alternative group trying. I'm not going to judge the intricacies of copyright of freeware liveries (who's the copyright owner of aircraft liveries?), but below the line, to my best knowledge only AIG has been given that permission.

Kind regards, Michael

Again, things are neither black nor white, but very nuanced. I am sure that AIG has wonderful people, and that Asobo and the msfs team do too.

The anger i feel is that always those who are useless seem protagonists. Envy makes the bad guys seem more.

Developers, creatives, artists, do not sink: a simulator is the sum of all of you (us, because I am also an artistic creator). Those airports have to be filled with smart life. That is a simulator !!!

by the way, 2 years ago I paid for PMDG to give me a discount 737 on MSFS. There is delay. There are no testimonials. I think they sold, and went to live in the Bahamas. I'm still waiting.

Problem is these people are gone, can't get hold of most of them. So AIG claims to own the models.

If this is true, I’d invite this friend to either post detailed instructions so that any word not allowed (ie me) could do this, or, even better, create a program that will do it automatically, or that will even download the models for you as the first step. If AIG can sidestep legal issues by giving users a program (OCI) that allows them to “download for themselves” models, liveries, etc., that they don’t claim the rights to, someone else can surely do the same.

1 Xbox update. Sheesh.

I've been toying with getting one but if I'm going to be tied to something like that then I expect them to operate it properly.

To be clear, it is up to the addon developer to flag that their product is meant to be available on the Xbox; it's literally a checkbox when you export a project for the Marketplace that modifies a metadata file in the output.   Without that, no Xbox version.    If you see only 1 out of N updates from the PC are available on the Xbox, it's almost certainly because the developer hasn't taken this step -- not because the Marketplace team is deliberately holding back updates or not "operating" properly. 🙂
