My monitor is calibrated. And he looks sunbunrned indeed 🙂
But I doubt youtube videos have integrated color profile. And I don't know if Firefox color corrects videos according to a profile.

It looks like YT converts video to BT 709. Most stuff on the internet is sRGB

Just like I said several times before: XP12 will not match or even overtake MSFS in the visual department. It will close the gap, not more.

I am going to disagree with that one. Based on the previews, it looks like X-Plane 12 will pretty much match MSFS in terms of visuals. X-Plane 12 will be better in some aspects, while MSFS will be in others. For instance I find X-Plane 12 sky & trees better and MSFS terrain & water look better. Clouds? It is pretty much a coin toss honestly, both have their own styles and I do not have a preference. Same can be said for lighting, in some shots MSFS looks more realistic and in others X-Plane 12 looks more realistic. I think when it comes to rain effects I prefer MSFS, though X-Plane 12 has the advantage of being affected by windshield wipers. X-Plane 12's seasons seem to be a massive advantage over MSFS. I also prefer how X-Plane 12 does wet runways. When it comes to reflections, both seem to be on par. Airport environment seems to be on par as well. There have been no previews for the terrain textures of X-Plane 12, so I will not comment on that part.

It will solidify it´s lead in all other aspects, though 🙂

If you ask about that - it would make no sense trying to explain it to you 😉

I am going to disagree with that one too. X-Plane might be better when it comes to built-in aerodynamics aspect, but there is so much more to simulation part than just aerodynamics. What exactly would Fenix A320, which is based on ProSim be missing out in MSFS compared to X-Plane? The same can be said about PMDG, A2A and many others. I find constant downplaying of MSFS' simulation aspects & realism in that regard rather unfair. Also, X-Plane would not be realistic enough without third party aircraft add-ons either, and given that such third party aircraft add-ons override almost every behavior of the base simulator, including flight model in some cases, the differences in the base simulator are rather irrelevant to the end user who wants the most realistic experience regardless of where it comes from. The major exception to that is default GA avionics, like G1000, which are shared between many aircraft. And while X-Plane is currently better in that regard, MSFS is catching up real fast and if X-Plane 12 does not bring G1000 improvements, MSFS will very likely exceed it.

This part is to everyone:

In the end looks like now we have two great flight simulators with both having their exclusive add-on aircraft. Why do two extremes have to exist at first place? I am already tired of "X-Plane 12 looks terrible regardless of everything they have done" and "MSFS is just a game and not a flight simulator" nonsense. Life is not black and white, so there is so much more to the truth than either sides. I am really tired of seeing everyone sticking to one extreme, as if there is nothing in between. I really can't believe this is still going on when everyone should be happy, except our wallets 😛

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

Lighting looks pretty flat in this real world video too! Hopefully XP12 can simulate some of these water colors!

Beautiful! No words to describe the excitement!

For sure Alex. I hope to see proper scale fuel trucks, and smaller catering trucks, lavatory trucks. etc. I see the tugs, and baggage carts will have people for once. I hope they know how to drive the equipment as they move around like snakes LOL!!! I love this new sim.Counting the days here for sale day. HAPPY FLYING.!!!!!!!!!

The new model separates cloud TYPE from cloud COVERAGE – you can have scattered cumulus or scattered stratus clouds. The cloud types are cirrus, stratus, cumulus, and cumulonimbus, but internally the engine can blend between them so we can grow a cumulus cloud to a cumulonimbus cloud.

We change the rendering properties slightly based on cloud type, but the whole system is more fluid and dynamic than that. The UI presents cloud layers, but the engine works on a big 4-d ‘pile o weather’ that doesn’t have discrete boundaries.

Personally, I think it looks awesome.  Physics based lighting.  Overhauled weather engine.  New water.  No overly saturated colors or excessive ambient occlusion.

I'm sold.

I am happy. My wallet is not.

I will make my wallet scream when the time comes. It will beg me LOL!!!!!!!

So far

I like what I see and I understand that it still a work in progress with things still yet to be finish.  No date has been set on delivery so there still maybe some things are yet to be done. So I am more of wait and see but I like it nevertheless.

The real problem this whole thing created is...I need to delete some unused simulator from my hard drive to make space for X-Plane 12 😱

System Spec 1: Nvidia RTX 4090,  AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Res 5120x1440, HP Reverb G2

Should be half price having to deal with that Austin Powers. 🙂

Sad thing is, the way this world is going, by the time it comes out, no one will have any jobs, mind you if it cost $100 you get, a flighttsim, an airbus, a Tomcat and it seems a helicopter, not bad for the price.

My favorite is still this one:
