TFDi MD-11 Update

Featured Replies

At FS Expo today the team announced they are about 50 to 60% done with the aircraft. Will be a dual release on day 1 on both P3D and MSFS. Will have failure modes available as well. Words team used were "beyond study level". 90% of the code runs outside the sim's. Models are done. Said next 3 to 6 months things are really going to come to life with the aircraft but no release date was given. Both engine variants being done with their own sound packs. He said the freighter versions will also still be happening. That to me was the only downside to the talk, doesn't sound the the MD-11F is coming with initial release, just the pax version. Not my video in the link below but covers all of it.

I was hoping it was closer than that  thanks for sharing

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

For some reason I just (perhaps foolishly) assumed the -F was being included in initial release. Thanks for the update. Glad it'll get here at some point.

These planes take lots and lots of time to develop. This is DEF one to keep our eyes on. The huge GPU loads concern me, esp because you cant get good video cards at the moment.

From the beginning they said the passenger version would be first followed by a freighter.

This is awesome.  Cant wait for this release and day 1 purchase.   Lufthansa has all but released all of their MD-11Fs in lieu of 77Fs.    But still a good freighter fleet out there.  It would make sense for this release to have the F version first.  The noise abatement costs for this aircraft is quite a bit more compared to the 77F.  But for me still has the coolest startup sounds.

All sounding very promising - like others on here it's a shame we'll have to wait longer for the freighter variant but there are still at least a wealth of passenger routes historically flown in the real world.

Certainly as soon as it releases you can bet I'll be doing the old JAL route from Narita to Kai Tak.

Apparently I missed that.
