New Release-A6M5 'Zero' and A6M-N 'Rufe' from Romantic Wings

Featured Replies

Because we don't have enough historical aircraft comin out today with the P-38 lightining and the Elektra 10 Romantic Wings us releasing their Legendary Aircraft Pack 1 consisting of the A6M5 'Zero' fighter and A6M-N 'Rufe' seaplanes with multiple liveries as well as "the  Suwanose Jima (RJX8) airfield on a volcanic island in Japan, the 'AKAGI' and 'KAGA' aircraft carriers which can be landed on, the 'Kamikawa Maru' seaplane tender, other ships such as merchant freighters and trucks and AAA guns"

Surprsingly this isn't out on Simmarket, it's on Just Flight who tend to curate their store somewhat better so I'm curious to see how this pack turns out especially as it's listed for only £17.99.

If anyone is interested JF have made the manual freely available

One for the WWII completists I think.

The IL-2 Sturmovik series has shied from releasing Japanese WW2 planes, due do the lack of documentations existing to faithfully recreate the aircrafts.

And this looks very little like a faithful recreation. Pass.

Though surviving aircraft do exist.  I believe there are 8 or 9 A6m still flyable for example.

This is Bernd Diehl's work. I have been following his Youtube videos since the beginning and he has put a great deal of effort and ingenuity into this project . He has created a whole little WWII world out there in the Pacific, with several airbases and lots of WWII ships and aircraft.

I think he's doing all of the aircraft modelling and development himself, so you could probably call them "homemade." I think it's a great effort.

It should also be a nice place to fly the P-38, and maybe even the JU-52 and the Elektra.

Oooh! I got excited when I saw this - I'd love to have a good Zero for MSFS. Took a look at the screenies for the package on the JF site though and I think I'll pass - the modelling looks a bit basic to me.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I had a chance to fly the Zero last night, looking forward to tangling with the Corsair and the P-38.

At first it was wobbly all over the sky, but after a few tweaks to my controller sensitivity settings (which by the way is a no frills old Saitek joystick), she settled down and began behaving like a real competitor. And that coming not long after I had just finished one of the best flights  I've ever had in the P-38 over gorgeous Southern California scenery, from KLGB to San Diego.

Looking at the long list of aircraft currently in develoment, I don't see any other Japanese WWII aircraft. Maybe we'll see some flight modelling and model modelling or other mods for this one.

I expected the new scenery to be an expansion of his Pacific Islands pack in the Solomon Islands, but he has moved the location of this scenery closer to Japan

Can we do the aircraft without the cheesy scenery from WWII among the modern setting? Is it two separate folders? As in, can you JUST install the aircraft without all that other stuff?

That's a real shame.  I would love to get a Pacific expansion for IL-2.

It's 5 separate folders so I would say yes. There's 3 separate aircraft folders, one scenery and one scenery library objects.

I have it in Addons Linker directory, which allows you to check only the folders you want.

Sweet! I may end up picking this up at some point... Maybe give it 2-3 weeks for potential bug fixes.

I agree...was looking at this and some of the videos on the product page. Looks like he's put a lot of research and effort into this product. I'm not sure it's my area of interest, but he seems quite dedicated to this project and I hope it sells well for him!

Sounds good to me. The Zero is the most flyable warbird of WWII. You can zoom through canyons and land on a dime. For pure high speed fun it was hard to beat in FS9 (the A2A version).

When MSFS 2020 first came out if anyone asked me which plane would you like to see added to the game, I would have said the Zero.\

OK, downloaded and flew. This is by far the easiest plane to fly and land in MSFS. Might be great to teach your youngsters to fly. Lands on carriers easily.

The interior and exterior graphics are primitive by any standard.
