Nothing is ever free in this world - ever - it all comes at a price, some times staring you in the face. I couldn't have said it better myself. lol Best comment I seen to describe on Window 11 upgrade. Well said!!!!!

But apparently the new Win11 security systems don't allow for dual booting which, if true, is outrageous really.

Linux is in a transition to wayland and its not quite ready yet (but already really really nice) - another 6 months at least I would guess. I much prefer KDE to gnome, gnome just needs to many clicks and mouse movement to do what you want, not that gnome is bad, and it may just be that I havent worked out how to set it up sensibly yet. October 6, 20214 yr Author @ Sparks.- Any comment on this thread on the MSFS forum? Ie is he saying he's got MSFS running in Linux and if so how? ctdlg M. Members 63 153 posts Location:France Report post Posted 6 hours ago Hello, Many of us play FS 2020 under Linux. My main OS is Linux, not Windows. So, I wanted to try. I installed Proton (very easy under Archlinux : yay -S protonunder my terminal.) I installed windows steam program and Linux steam program. Both versions want me to buy FS2020 I do use my WIndows Steam account. Question : can I install FS2020 with steam under Linux WITHOUT buying it again ? Quote ctdlg M. Members 63 153 posts Location:France Report post Posted 8 minutes ago Answer : YES I've got 2 different users with my steam account (same email) and was using the wrong one. I cannot install FS2020 with Linux Steam. I did install Fs2020 under Linux using the WIndows exe (WIne + Proton) I will post a reply here after +- 10 hours flight. Ie is he saying he's got MSFS running in Linux and if so how? there is a big difference between running and working... the how is: https://www.protondb.com/ https://www.protondb.com/app/1250410 which is integrated with steam and how they got doom eternal running on the steam gear. There is a directx to vulkan graphics driver, which lets you run games that only support directx on any hardware with a vulkan driver - nowhere near as good as just using vulkan to begin with, but a lifeline for all the developers that didnt. DCS 2.7 will start in VR for example, but I cant get past the hanger and it doesnt start at all in 2D. Edited October 6, 20214 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer

Seems like it's only a matter of time before the gremlins are banished. At which point I may well indulge. (Not sure I really want all the dross and bloat ware of Win 11) Edited October 6, 20214 yr by jarmstro

Wayland is a big deal, nice modern lightweight layer between the application and screen which will go a long way to banish many related compatibility (like touchpad gestures in the review) and performance issues (when the current X11 is already circa twice as fast as the windows window manager) "very close" but still stupid issues like https://github.com/NVIDIA/nvidia-settings/issues/69 (check the dates of the posts) I'd expect to see that one closed in no longer than 6 months, but it should have been fixed shortly after the first post. steam gear hits the market in December, but will be middle of next year before its shipped in any kind of significant volume [if it does... no guarantees] These things excite me - and provide meaningful benefits to both XP11 and XP12. Windows 11, hmm I dont have anything bad to say, but I also dont have much to say, claiming they are now doing stuff no one has done before but when you actually look have been basic features of KDE and/or Gnome for 20 years pretty much sums it up for me: "not as interesting as the marketing wants you to believe" also, I wonder how much Intel paid them for Quote AMD said Windows 11 can cut game performance on Ryzen CPUs by 10 to 15 percent Edited October 7, 20214 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer
October 11, 20214 yr So I installed W11 on the laptop , honestly don't like it , it's a mixture of KDE with Win I feel. Performance seems similar to W10. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
