Funny thing was one of the pc reviewer was peaking off 20% loss when they impelent  there virtual desktop security thingy, you getting more and more locked out of your own pc

I'm now even more tempted to run XP on Linux even though some of my favourite addons are not compatible. But apparently the new Win11 security systems don't allow for dual booting which, if true, is outrageous really.

If I am forced to win 11, Ill be going Linux as well, i dont fly half the planes I have so I wont miss much if Laminar do what they say, already run my HAM stuff on old lappy running Ubuntu.

its been something of a pain to get everything working though. Linux is in a transition to wayland and its not quite ready yet (but already really really nice) - another 6 months at least I would guess.

I much prefer KDE to gnome, gnome just needs to many clicks and mouse movement to do what you want, not that gnome is bad, and it may just be that I havent worked out how to set it up sensibly yet.

Hello,

Many of us play FS 2020 under Linux.

My main OS is Linux, not Windows.
So, I wanted to try.
I installed Proton (very easy under Archlinux : yay -S protonunder my terminal.)
I installed windows steam program and Linux steam program.

Both versions want me to buy FS2020
I do use my WIndows Steam account.

Question : can I install FS2020 with steam under Linux WITHOUT buying it again ?

Answer : YES

I've got 2 different users with my steam account (same email) and was using the wrong one.

I cannot install FS2020 with Linux Steam.
I did install Fs2020 under Linux using the WIndows exe (WIne + Proton)

I will post a reply here after +- 10 hours flight.

Useless and rubbish MS , it is not even ready to support the Ryzen 5 1600x , TPM 2.0 is enabled

there is a big difference between running and working...

There is a directx to vulkan graphics driver, which lets you run games that only support directx on any hardware with a vulkan driver - nowhere near as good as just using vulkan to begin with, but a lifeline for all the developers that didnt.

DCS 2.7 will start in VR for example, but I cant get past the hanger and it doesnt start at all in 2D.

Thanks for the links Sparks. Interesting.  Seems like it's only a matter of time before the gremlins are banished. At which point I may well indulge. (Not sure I really want all the dross and bloat ware of Win 11)

Wayland is a big deal, nice modern lightweight layer between the application and screen which will go a long way to banish many related compatibility (like touchpad gestures in the review) and performance issues (when the current X11 is already circa twice as fast as the windows window manager)

I'd expect to see that one closed in no longer than 6 months, but it should have been fixed shortly after the first post.

steam gear hits the market in December, but will be middle of next year before its shipped in any kind of significant volume [if it does... no guarantees]

These things excite me - and provide meaningful benefits to both XP11 and XP12.

Windows 11, hmm I dont have anything bad to say, but I also dont have much to say, claiming they are now doing stuff no one has done before but when you actually look have been basic features of KDE and/or Gnome for 20 years pretty much sums it up for me: "not as interesting as the marketing wants you to believe"

also, I wonder how much Intel paid them for

So I installed  W11 on the laptop , honestly don't like it , it's a mixture of KDE with Win I feel.  Performance seems similar to W10.
