You don't know what you're missing Fr. Bill.  Cats have it over dogs in one important area.  They are low maintenance.  Yeah, some people have to clean out the litter boxes but that beats picking up dog poop in the back yard.

And please make it known to all beings on this planet that its a scientific fact that cats, despite having a smaller brain than a dog, have higher neurologically density!!! Quality rather than quantity my friends.

Cats Rule!!! 😺

This illustrates why I won't allow any feline to own me.

Dogs at least know their place (mostly)!

Actually 734PSI.  And the pit bull only 250psi.

I once had a German Shepherd who was very protective of my oldest daughter.  If I had to discipline her I had to take her into another room first or the dog would gently put his jaw around my wrist as if saying, "No, no, don't do that".  He was a very well trained dog.

I was in the Air Force at the time and one of my buddy's trained dogs.  He had orders to go to Turkey and could only take one dog with him.  He decided on the puppy and gave Flame to me.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Great find! This is why my cats live happily outdoors and I leave the mousing to my Yorkies, who at least just kill them with one shake and don't torture them for hours then arrange their body parts on my bed in unnatural ways.

I should add, videos like Bohemian Catsody do exaggerate certain feline behaviour for the comedy value. What they don't mention is how entertaining cats are how smart they are and how loving they are too. The moment as a kitten my cat climbed up my chest, put his little paws around my neck and his head under my chin, my heart melted.

I recall when my daughter asked my to look at her hair dryer because it wasn't working. Still plugged in, I manipulated the flex. There was a loud bang and impressive fireworks as it arched out. What did my cat do? Run away? No way, he actually ran toward me, toward the source of danger to protect me. Not the first time he's done that.

He's a great cat. Smart, affectionate and  naughty (which is very entertaining).

And most of them are too big.

Which is the reason I've only had AKC registered miniature dachshunds! 😉

Just to be clear, I absolutely adore kittens! The adults, not so much. 😒

My four cats are adults and sleep most of the time.  I like to walk into the living room and see all four of them asleep somewhere...one on the floor, two in chairs, and one on the coffee table.  But they won't sleep on my recliner of my wife's easy chair.  They know those are off limits.  It's somewhat comforting to see them there and know that even though the world is in chaos all is well in the house.

But, but, but... adults behave like kittens. They are still cats. Just not as manic. 😼

Your's will be mostly active at night as they are allowed outside.

Mine sleeps at night, same as us (as far as we know) and quite a bit during the day. They sleep 12 to 20 hours.

They don't sleep as deeply as we do, hence longer required, its mostly cat naps, drifting in and out of light sleep. Their deep sleep cycles are only in 15 minute bouts, within which my cat often dreams and makes chattering noises and twitches like crazy.

In the wild, or a cat with access to the outdoors at night like yours, they would be active in periods between dawn and dusk but when living with us as house cats only, their sleep patterns are malleable and they choose to more closely match ours.

My cat will be back to his night time routine when we get a house and he's back outside. 😺

Yeah.  The one that likes to sleep behind my monitor in the computer sleeps there almost all day.  But every once in a while gets up to change positions.  And periodically she opens her eyes and looks at me to see if I'm still there.  If I'm gone she will get down and find a chair in the living room to seep in.  And she twitches when she dreams.

Sometimes she'll come out and head butt my hand.  That means she wants to be petted.  So I'll start petting her and she will nuzzle my hand with the side of her jaw.

She rubbing her scent on you Noel. Marking you as a member of her family.

Do you find your cats switch their sleeping spots? All of my cats have, they have several that they use. So rival predators don't find them probably.

Yeah, they all have several places where they sleep.  But Shadow, the mama cat, spends a lot of time on my computer desk.

I currently have six cats.  When they're not up eating or running around they sleep in the same spot for days or weeks at a time.  For some reason, this summer they all prefer to stay outside all the time.  This never happened before.

I prefer adult cats to kittens.

We've also been feeding a stray.  After five years, yesterday was the first time he let me pet him! 😄
