Something get pushed out tonight?

Featured Replies

So the sim has crashed 5 times for me tonight.  I have not added any add-ons since last time I used the machine but tonight when it was loading, I got a windows defender message asking me if it was OK if MSFS  accessed my network.  I said yes of course but now I am dealing with this constant crashing and it it crashes at different points.  Sometimes while starting up and sometimes after a flight is loaded,  I appreciate the assistance from the community but please, before you start talkin about the "community" folder, be mindful that it was working fine yesterday and I have not added anything since.  It smells like they changed something because of the Windows Defender message.  The message is not coming up every time either since I said yes to the message.  It feels like a constant battle in this hobby.

Thank you, but really? lol.  I think I may have figured it out and am in the middle of testing.  I nudged my video card speed up 10 mghz yesterday but forgot about that.  I set it back to where it was and will follow up here for prosperity sake later.  It's taking forever to load the flight.

Not exactly my plight or problem at the moment but ....

I normally suffer through numerous CTD at least once before being able to fly.

I had five flights yesterday after the normal CTD rigmarole and all went well,  Opened up this morning after two attempts and half my aircraft are missing. I spent an hour putting them all back and rebooted. I was greeted with a CTD just after my normal safe mode or normal mode screen.  I reloaded and another CTD when I clicked on the Welcome screen. I reloaded and after my normal safe or normal mode screen, I loaded normally and selected my aircraft and YBBN. I clicked on Fly and CTD. The next reload I got to the second Fly and CTD. My next attempt was successful and I was able to actually fly.

I just love the excitement generated by eventually being able to do what the programme is supposed to do in the first place, but I am really looking forward to going through the process the first time, every time and succeeding.

When frustration gets too much however, there is always a faultless flight with XPlane11.

Xbox and Gaming Services were updated in the Windows Store; also installed the new Nvidia drivers - no issues here with a vanilla install, but who knows how they react to anything in the community folder.

Noticed you're running an AMD rig Tony. Out of curiosity, have you tried updating to the new X570 chipset drivers (you have to uninstall the previous set first). Also in your power profile, try disabling link state power management.

And I assume you've run through these (which were updated):

All versions - Crashing/CTDs issues - Advanced Troubleshooting – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)

I also normally get a CTD half way thru the 1st loading process, then all is well.

Well everything worked out ok after rolling back the overclock a smidge.  You guys that are crashing can maybe try to roll back some overclock settings you might have and see if that helps.  I was having no issues with any other programs with my overclock, MSFS was the only program that didn't "like" it.

GPUs don't have enough overclocking headroom to bother, at least's my take, unlike many modern CPUs.

Dylan,

My drivers are all up to date, including Nvidias' latest one.  I have worked through those links previously and none of them sorted my problems (all since SU5)  I am hoping that SU6 will sort out some of them at least, but not holding my breath.

At worst, these issues are frustrating but, as previously stated, I am really enjoying XPlane11 for relief LOL

Thanks for the tips though.

Regards

Tony

Same here lately. My first flight ends with a CTD at random times but always before I start to fly. The second attempt works fine and I can fly for hours.  I made no changes that I know/remember about.
