Reno Air Races - Full Collection Trailer

I'm guessing these planes are definitely quantity over quality right?  They look great...but getting 40 planes for 60 bucks seems a little crazy lol

Edit I guess it's 4 planes and a million liveries and some different cockpit variants.

And some exterior model variation.

They're all modelled after actual racing planes. Each customized by their team.

Some of them look really fun to fly around (outside of Reno).  I was hoping for an A2A civilian mustang but this might fill the gap for now

I'll only get the $20 pack, as I can't see myself flying all those variants.

Does anyone know if aircraft to aircraft collision detection will be modeled in the Reno air racing package?  I can't see racing being very realistic if the current "ghosting" is still in effect when aircraft are in close proximity.

They have reduced the ghosting range so you can fly a lot closer, such as maybe wingtip to wingtip, but no collision detection or crashing.  They have modelled wake turbulence if you are flying close behind, so you will get thrown around a bit.

Obviously they don't want collisions modelled with damage or planes crashing, but I don't think everything is finalised yet.  For instance, there should be some penalty for trying to fly through someone. Not sure how that would work yet.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

This looks mint.

so if you have the free version and race against someone with the full 40 planes I presume you wouldn’t actually see them rendered in the SIM - just a copy of your one variant?

New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. T Flight Rudder Pedals - Trackir.

So the base Reno Airpack includes the Pitty S1S which is no also coming free to everyone in the GOTY pack ?

If so it's really 3 extra new aircraft not 4.

At first I was like some P51s racing around pylons big woop, but then I see a T-6 an L-39 in fantastic individualized detail... now I' m interested.  I was more hoping for Red Bull Air races.... but I'm sure it's coming.

I find that disappointing.  I have no issue with damage not being modeled, but I see no reason to not have collision detection.  If 2 planes collide, it should absolutely be felt in the cockpit and perhaps cause a spin into the ground.

They want to stop people from intentionally crashing into other planes and ruining the fun for everyone.

I understand that, but I think it is a poor decision.  Can you imagine an auto racing sim/game employing that same "logic"?

If you crash in the air you're most likely be dead.

I heard that Mike from Lotussim had a hand in some of the L39 modeling....it was mentioned in the dev Q and A perhaps?

That would be good news indeed.

The involvement of A2A is minimal. From the owner :

"Since Asobo has gone public with this, yes, we helped by creating the 3d artwork for two P-51 cockpits for Microsoft. Michal Puto made the cockpit artwork for Strega and Robert Rogalski for Miss America. They enjoyed working on these cockpits and are pleased with how they came out. Just so there's no confusion, we didn't make any external artwork, systems, flight models, sounds, etc.

Really REALLY hope they fix the logbook and recording of achievements in advance of the release for their sake...
