What A.I. traffic program is tops for P3D 5.(latest)?

Featured Replies

I had been using MyTraffic for P3D, but it was only aligned with v1 and v2.  Had to hack the install.

What can one recommend for a clean install of great A.I. depiction and routes...that installs as it should in v5.3?

Thanks..

Is there an up to date guide on installing AIG anywhere please, either text or video? Last time I tried there was almost no documentation so I gave up, but that was a little while ago.

There's a tutorial and instruction manual included the AI Manager zip file as well as numerous tutorials now on YouTube.

Another vote for AIG. And whilst there’s no charge for it their servers don’t run on fresh air. Donations should be considered.

I realise that but last time I looked the screenshots in the tutorial didn't match the version of AI Manager that was installed so I gave up. The installation instructions also didn't take you through installation in a step by step manner, but I might try again if they have been updated. I felt calling it a 'one click installer' was an insult to my intelligence if I'm honest! If I have FLAI AI can I just turn that off in the addons menu and use AIG to provide AI for Vatsim? It's also a shame it won't work with IVAO but I guess that not AIG's fault.

AIG all the way. It's actually extremely easy to setup, once you understand that you don't need 95% of the menu options in the AI Manager.

THANK YOU EVERYBODY for your input and high five's of AIG.  I will look into that for sure...and many thank you's for your thread responses!

Post Edit:  What can I expect (if you viewed my in sim settings) in the cost of FPS when AIG is installed and running?  Thanks...

Post Edit 2: Just downloaded AIG_ TrafficController and AIG_ AIManager  (zips)  Is that all I need to get going, along with YouTube tutorials and the manual?

Start with installing a few of the bigger operators or your favorites just to get you going and then add more in batches to help break it up. Don't forget Netjets and the other bizjet operators! There's also some good US Military available. For Season schedules, be sure to set as far back as Winter 2017-18.

indeed .... & there are many P3D5 flightplans at the avsim library to compliment AIG's (though their install may require one use AIFP. the original manual way, still favoured by many)

and all aircraft can be reviewed / edited with AIAE

Yes, AIM and TC is all you need. AIM is basically what you use to download and install airlines (automatically mostly, unless you are being asked if you want to use payware models; you can choose freeware if you don't want to). TC is being started together with P3D and all you have to do there is choose a percentage of traffic and click "inject traffic", once your flight has loaded.

E.g. if you choose 100% you will have 100% of real life traffic (not "live", but according to real world flightplans, so if you fly on thursday 25th of october in-sim you will have flightplan traffic from thursday 25th of october), 50% is 50% and so on.
FPS hit will depend a lot on your CPU, and of course it will depend on the actual location you are at. 100% at some greek island will mean 3 aircraft around you, but at KDEN it will mean 200. So the latter will heavily tax your CPU and lower your FPS quite a lot, but it could be acceptable for you because 5.3 is incredibly smooth even with low FPS. E.g. at KDEN with a PMDG 737 I will have 21 FPS with 100% traffic (Ryzen 3600, average CPU, your mileage may vary), but I could raise FPS a lot by lowering traffic (see below).
Keep in mind that you cannot change traffic percentage "on the fly" ("delete traffic" option in TC does not work yet, it's a future feature), you would have to close the TC and restart it and re-inject with another percentage.
E.g. you fly KDEN to Smallville and you want your 30 FPS all the way, so you start with injecting 30-50% at KDEN (that's still 60-100 aircraft), then after takeoff and during climb you close TC, restart, and reinject with 100% and keep that for the rest of your flight, since Smallville does not see much traffic.

If you need more help, you can always visit their discord: The main dev (Kaii) answers your questions within seconds (!), day and night. I swear he's a cyborg or something.

i'm confused ..... how do you control % injection irrespective of what is the outcome.

in your example at KDEN, one has an "unreal" spawn  .... too little traffic ??

for now, cheers
