Pink is weird and means no texture. Most of the time and mostly in MSFS2020 (are you with MSFS2020) buildings are just missing. If it's this one...

... it's a custom hangar (opened) included in the zip. I can't understand how a embeded texture couldn't load. Maybe a specific issue with MSFS?

Yes that is the one. More then likely a 2024 issue. I did not delete the old version before updating. I will try that tonight to see if it helps.

Hi,

Thanks to Vincent for this excellent work. I installed the airport this morning and it has a professional level! By the way, I didn’t see any pink textures.

Greetings

OK. Good news and Bad New

Well, good news is your scenery is fine.

Bad news is something in my community folder is the culprit. Been having different issues since the last MSFS update.

Now I got to find it. Could take a long time...Wish me luck.

Great hanger by the way.

Thank you!

In Southern California, I choose which airports to recreate for MSFS based on my real-world logbook. With only one or two exceptions, I’ve actually taken off from or landed at every field I've built. Since I love re-flying these routes in the sim, the lack of detailed versions of "my" local airports was always a major immersion killer for me.

At this point, I think I’ve done about as much as I reasonably can. Some airports are simply too complex for my current amateur developer skills.  Whenever I see the work put out by professional add-on studios, I’m reminded of my place in the hierarchy!

That being said, I do have several other airports on my workbench (Sonoma, French Valley, Riverside). Unfortunately, a mix of limited free time and a lack of motivation has kept them in the "WIP" stage for now.

French Valley I would really love. I try to keep my VFR flying inside the San Diego TAC and with all your San Diego airports and Dreamflight Palomar really not all that many airports are missing now exept French Valley and some otehr smaller ones 🙂

Air Attack Base construction seems to progress well. One of my airport MSFS supporter sent me recently aerial video of the site. The simmer community is awesome.

Just for the fun, I may reflect unfinished work. Work-in-Progress: new apron, new design of taxiway entry, Phos-chek tanks...

Here’s version 3.2 of my KRNM Ramona Airport scenery! This is a special update.

There have been massive changes happening at the real-world airport lately, particularly regarding the Cal Fire ramp, which is now almost completed. I have updated the scenery to reflect the progress as of Mid-May 2026, including the 5 new Phos-Chek (fire retardant) tanks installed on the north end of the ramp near the north hangar, along with all the surrounding infrastructure. The old helipad area has also been cleaned up. But there’s also update which are not in the real world.

:hammer_and_wrench: Going Prospective: The Future Cal Fire Setup

This update features a heavy dose of “prospective” design for the future Cal Fire apron. I have added ground refilling stations in the middle of the tarmac with plumbing cut directly into the new concrete.

To anticipate future C-130 operations, I have designed a drive-through/pass-through taxiway system (labeled positions 1, 2, and 3) to improve aircraft circulation. Instead of the traditional “stop forward, then 180-degree turn to taxi out” routine, aircraft will be able to taxi straight through the filling stations. This layout is heavily inspired by the Paso Robles (KPRB) Cal Fire setup.

To bring this fictional/future setup to life, I’ve even added red fire retardant stains on the ground, making it look as though the stations have already been heavily used! Please note that the exact numbering/layout of positions 2 and 3 is pure imagination for now, and I will update them as soon as real-world photos emerge.

Additionally, I have kept a small part of the transient parking for now, but I don’t know what the real taxiway signs look like there yet. If you know, please let me know!

I would absolutely love some local help! If you live nearby, work at the field, or have access to recent photos, official plans, taxiway sign placements, or diagrams of how the final layout is intended to operate, please reach out and share them! I will continuously update this as new real-world data becomes available.

A huge shoutout to Mitch and my fried Romain P. for the feedback via video and email, which helped me squash some bugs and improve accuracy!

:clipboard: Version 3.2 Changelog:

  • Cal Fire Ramp Update: Modeled ongoing construction progress (as of Mid-May 2026), including the 5 new Phos-Chek tanks, a cleaned-up old helipad area, closing one taxiway replaced by a new wider one.

  • Prospective Additions: Added the future Cal Fire apron pass-through taxiway markings, position numbering (fictional layout for now), and ground refilling stations designed for upcoming C-130 operations.

  • Visual Effects: Added fictional red fire retardant stains around the new refilling pits for added realism.

  • Transient Parking: Retained a small portion of the transient parking area (awaiting real-world taxiway sign data).

  • Fixes: Corrected several blue taxiway edge light placements (Thanks to Mitch’s video!).

  • Removals: Removed the Gazebo/Kiosk north of Taxiway Alpha at the Chuck Hall Aviation access point (Thanks to Mitch’s email!).

  • Details: General clutter and detail enhancements around the Cal Fire area.

The update is now available for free. Download it, test out the new drive-through retardant pits, and let me know what you think!

Happy flying, and thank you in advance to anyone who can provide local intel, signage references, or pictures of the ongoing construction!

Six years ago, I started upgrading MSFS airports just because the default taxiway names were totally wrong. Today, I'm building my own custom taxiway sign objects!

Here’s a preview from Ramona (KRNM) showing off the new rounded shape and accurate real-world font. Major improvements:

  • Accurate custom shape for this specific airport

  • Realistic black back panel (instead of yellow)

  • True double-sided single object (no more overlapping models)

The next Ramona update will also feature a revised Cal Fire ramp, thanks to new real-world photos from John M. Actually, some of my assumptions were wrong. Expect different things. Even better, Jeremy U. (developer of the outstanding Hemet KHMT) is donating his custom C-130 and S-70i static models to the project! Stay tuned.

Man those double-sided signs are looking great. Asobo should commission your work to replace default sign objects for class D and C airports in the USA!

Big news for Ramona fans! I’ve just pushed a massive v4.0.0 update. It brings a major overhaul to the Cal Fire Air Attack Base and replaces generic assets with custom-built scenery across the field.

Download link free for PC MSFS2020/24: San Diego Ramona (KRNM) - Flightsim.to

What’s new in v4:

  • The Look: Say goodbye to the generic MSFS taxiway signs, everything is now handcrafted as real as it gets! Two sided signs and the real shape.

  • Cal Fire Action: The ramp is fully upgraded for the new Cal Fire C-130 Hercules and Helicopter S-70i, featuring also the new Phos Chek infrastructure (fire retardant).

  • Static Assets: A special thank you to Jeremy Ulloa for the incredible new static models: new S2T Airtanker (#70 and #71), C-130 Hercules Airtanker (#22), OV-10 Air Tactical (#330) and Sikorsky S-70i Firehawk (#609).

  • Polishing: Lots of love given to the Classic Rotors Museum, new entrance signage, lot of signs on fences landside, refined textures, holding point, and expanded starting positions to give you more variety on the ramp. You still have an opened hangar. And dozens of details you won’t even notice.

A Note on the Cal Fire Ramp: Please keep in mind that the real-world Cal Fire ramp work is actually still ongoing! This update is based on a mix of data shared by helpful locals (thanks!) and available internet content (for example this webcam). What you’ll find in this v4.0.0 update is almost “real-time” as the construction progresses, but I wanted to make sure simmers could enjoy the current progress immediately!

I hope you enjoy the new level of detail. Feedback is always welcome! Happy simflying!

Which specific area of the new Cal Fire ramp are you most excited to see the community test out first?

@vbazillio Okay my friend, set out from KRNM in my new Taog AS365 Dauphin chopper and conducted a short flight to KBNG. Before taking off, did some drone exploring around Ramona. Wow Vincent, you are really getting good at this scenery development thing. I mean, you've been good, but this is next level for you. Great work! And free! Thank you!
