February 14, 20224 yr Its a shame they don't seem to have mentioned about doing the rest of GB - As I did pick up Great Britain Central and I did think it did add the extra missing parts that came with the default sim. As while MSFS does do a good job, there is still many areas of the UK that are missing some great details. I do feel there is still a need for those - Especially if its going to be areas that won't get updated by MSFS themselves anytime soon and I would have happily paid for the rest of the GB addons. Maybe they think they can't compete with the freeware on flightsim.to for these areas. February 14, 20224 yr What I do like about Orbx is what they have done with Central and I am more than happy to purchase via their storefront above others because of how they keep the products updated. What I did love about Orbx was their regions and landclass products that made my sims feel like I real world I was immersed in. Then on top of that each region had a selection of airports that seemed like labours of love with local touches often outside the airport boundaries. Nearly every airfield I purchased, especially those on the West side of the USA or, UK or Innsbruck were full of character and charm that just pulled me in and connected me to them. Since MSFS their products seem more about what will sell, in what market and planned on a spreadsheet. It's leading to an inconsistency in their releases and a disconnection between product and my immersion. It's a shame, but we are more than fortunate to have a thriving community at flightsim.to and a base default sim that does a lot of things well out of the box.
February 14, 20224 yr I'm sure there are ways to innovate addon airports. I mean, you've modeled the toilet paper in the men's bathroom at Terminal C, well, that's great, but that's just the same old same old. Recreate airports as the living and breathing environments that they are and stop trying to impress folks with "highly detailed" ground markings.
February 14, 20224 yr Regional scenery may not be so important for MSFS but I think there’s still a strong case for high-quality airports and surrounding scenery. My first Orbx product was Coff’s Harbour for FSX and I loved that it included not only the airport but a lot of custom buildings / boats etc. for the surrounding area. I would buy it for MSFS again in a heartbeat. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

I don't speak like that with old friends 😀 Now, on the topic itself. Keeping up with the market is what a company like Orbx is all about. Remember that John V was with Cisco (or Oracle) before. Just sayin'... Opposing John V and Anna C has no sense for me. He is, according to him, the main shareholder. I surmise that the contracts Orbx has with MS were his doing. The environment has rather brutally changed, they just can't do as if the market was the same. What made them successful is mostly gone. She has to cope with this and rebuild Orbx. Now some pure conjecture, I wouldn't be surprised if JV didn't work on new tech. He has this idea some years back of having interactions between the sim pilot and the FBO for instance, if my memory serves me well.
