That's only referring to the "out of the way" ones.  I assume the likes of London are selling quite nicely

True. I have just answered to Anna C on their forum for Dubai.

Odd isn't it, the only thing I'd like to see from Orbx, within reason, is the release of some of the old favourites like Walter Sutton's, Israel's Farm, not to mention Starks Twin Oaks. I was under the impression that many of these classics were in the process of being developed, but it seems not, a shame.

Not me. I observe that I hardly fly where I’have flown before , the fat regions and their quaint little airports. Not because they are not brought up to the new standard but because MSFS has brought us the world. Honestly, flying the West Coast that I’ve done for years in FSX and P3D, was getting a little stale. Exploring Asia, South America etc is more fun. Give me rather quaint airports in Peru, Assam or the Maluku 🤣

IMHO, the days of companies like ORBX, Aerosoft are numbered, unless said companies really step up their game.

I mean, where is the innovation, where are the innovative features?

Given that the top rated freeware mods on flightsim.to are at or above payware level, releasing overpriced airports with features like "highly detailed textures! and "even the firestation at the far end of the airport is modeled accurately" just isn't going to cut it anymore.

Also, the base simulator is so good, I don't think there is much of a market for dems, mesh, textures, etc. -. the kind you had to spend $$$ in P3D.

I bought the Dubai city pack ! 6 euros, I couldn't be wrong 😄.

A nice scenery easy on my old computer. And, if you like the challenge, there is a very short strip on a pontoon (Dubai Skydivers). No Porter or Kodiak please, too easy, I do it with the MV Corsair. Be ready for many go-around.

Who's making better sceneries than ORBX in 2022?

Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10
MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled)
8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled)
32GB DDR4 3000 Ram
500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

Now that they made their Support Forums READ ONLY, I doubt that this will positively affect my purchase decisions in 2022. But to be honest, their support went downhill anyway since JV left.

Would like that too, but only if they get upgraded with high res textures and not the way those other "throwback thursday" products came out...

Sadly, IMO, Orbx have lost their way a little and 'sold out.' The very things that made Orbx great are no longer there. Instead, they have become an agency for, what seems, anyone who wishes to sell their products through their Orbx Direct portal. The quality control that was evident throughout all their in-house products is sadly lacking. Previously, I can't think of a single airport that I purchased that I was disappointed with. Sure, the odd one had performance issues, but the build quality was maintained to a particular standard throughout all their products. The Orbx brand was strong and evident in all their products, where you knew if it was an Orbx product, then you knew exactly what you were getting.

We see this all the time with brands and retailers, it's a sad reflection of how things have changed I'm afraid, watering down the very thing that made them successful in exchange for extra profit.  I'm not being cruel, just my opinion that some may and some may not share.

Nowadays the „innovation“ seems to be - besides the far end firestation - the „interior bug“ which I personally couldn’t care less for, yes I bought already now more airports for MSFS than ever for FSX even though I hardly have the time to start or even end a flight at a gate, let alone passing security and waiting in line for boarding…. YMMV

Cruel ?  a bit simplistic maybe  😉.

What do you do when most of your catalogue of  hundreds of products  becomes obsolete in a matter of few months and that people stop to buy  ? When you suddenly face what is basically an unfair competition, a gigantic wave of freeware ? Adding that it happens when you have just shifted gear up (the new production facility in England) and that the old guard leaves you to make their life ?

You try to survive. Orbx diversifies into distribution and has a lot of good 3PD products  and try to reconstruct its catalogue not knowing what will sell or not (see the out-the-way city packs). Rough waters.

Totally agree with the Dominique comment.

Some people don't look beyond the end of their nose.
