The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

There was a famous Yorkshire vet named James Herriot (real name James Alf Wright) who was a dab hand at wrapping a cat in a towel or blanket whenever he had to administer any treatment to his patients. Some funny stories.

Jude Bradley
Beech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?
ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry.

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

A vet wrapped my cat in a towel. The stupid vet tried to shave him for an ultrasound. He went bonkers (don't blame him) so the vet wrapped him in a red towel. The poor boy was very frightened when he saw a towel for a long time after.

Thus, I'm not fond of the towel approach.

I'm in a similar boat currently.

Was looking for a kitty, and saw one with these HUGE, soulful eyes.

To me, she looked a little sad and lonely, and the bio said she had not been adopted in over a year, because she is very very VERY shy.

I kept thinking about her and thinking about her, and now she is home with me as I struggle to coax her from under the bed and make friends.

Its been three days now, and while there are some good signs, I can already tell its going to be a job!

I hope I can stay the course, and don't lose heart that I can help her in the coming weeks.

I use Temptations.  My cats go bonkers for them.

Lovely kitty High Flyer.  Two of our cats were feral cats we were able to domesticate.  The other two were born in our basement.  One of the ferals was pregnant.

We have another feral cat that showed up very recently and likes to lay in one of the chairs on our back porch.  Haven't been able to touch him or her yet, but we're working on it.

Birdguy and family: Thanks so much for your beautiful work and patience!

When i took a 4 months old kitten from a shelter i was informed she was originally found in a field all alone and caught with a catch cage when she was only 7 weeks old! She also already had been taken home from the shelter by somebody...and brought back to the shelter for being too aggressive to this person's other cats. So not a very good start for her. When we met in the shelter i only got a glimpse to see of her as she hid away, full of fear.

When i took her in she indeed was aggressive to my 2 other cats, but i just knew we could earn her trust. Fast forward 7 months later:  It's been a pretty long process but bit by bit she trusted me more and more. Now she's playing and having fun with my other cats, of which one is only about 5 days older than her. She trusts me and my other cats almost completely now, but her experience with the catch cage has proven to be a big trauma. When i stick out my hand to her too fast she immediately becomes defensive still, she ducks and growls and her hair stands out. Luckily i can pinpoint that to the catch cage so i know the exact reason for her anxiety. It will take several years and very small steps but i just know that with enough love and patience she will heal from that too. I never took in a cat from a shelter before, let alone a cat in her mental condition, but In the end it's already been the most beautiful and awarding experience for both my cat and me, and i feel very thankful for that.

5000 cat points awarded. You are a superb, lovely, mega advanced being that deserves our respect.

Most I've ever awarded. So far...

Don't worry about your feline. She will settle down soon and start to trust you soon. You can accelerate the process with a mouse full of catnip on a piece of string. A bit of play will encourage her to trust you. Also mention my name, cats know me, that will help.

A few days is nothing, Give it time.

We have car treats called Dreamies. Honestly, they are like crack cocaine for cats.

The adverts depict cats leaping 100 feet and doing all manner of things to get them. Its not an exaggeration.

Looking under my bed, I find nala has been industrious and ripped a hole through the lining and made a home for herself within the box-springs...

As the bed cost a very pretty penny, I'm not willing to let her damage it further and began a campaign to dislodge her, which ended up with her behind the dresser, me with some painful claw marks, and Nala opining that I suck, and that she knows where I sleep.

Having blown over $100 yesterday at the vet for a cat pheromone diffuser and refills, I am now ordering bed blockers, and the saga continues.

My Moggles needs tipping out of her carrier at the vets... she's not a fan. With the whole covid business, the Vet nurses come out and grab your animal and take them in to get checkups etc... We always sit in the car expecting to see flames and smoke and screaming staff fleeing the building when she's in there without us.

She's a 4 year old Tortoiseshell... so spicy.

lol  yea know  how  you feel  my  cat  hates  going  to the  vet  and  now  i have  to give her  a  pill  so the  vet  can  check her  out.   Trouble is  the  pill  last  for  12  hours  or  so  and  when  she  finished  and  comes  home  she  keeps  falling  over  because of  the pill  effects,  and have  to make  sure  she  cant  jump  on  anything  high. Funny  watching  her  using the  kitty  litter  though in this  state 🙂

So far my cats have been pretty docile going to the vet.  But I am in the examining room with them and pet them and talk to them while waiting for the vet.  And then examination and shots and anything else takes plac while I am holding them.  I think that makes them a bit more comfortable.

Yep only  problem  during  covid19  you wernt allowed  to  go in the  rooms,  they  collected  the  cat  from you whilst  you were  in the  car,  once  finished  they  returned  the  cat  to you  whilst  you waited  in your  car.
