Illuminators : anyone tried them ?

Featured Replies

When they started with their nightlighting products I found them too exaggerated regarding red, blue, green colors.

But looking at Amsterdam + EHAM looking at their screenshots it looks not that bad.

Anyone tried their products ? Opinion ?

Thanks, Gerard

Schiphol looks a little too bright looking at it from a distance but perhaps that is because it is a screenshot

Isn't it a bit too expensive, 20 € for just one small area (Amsterdam+EHAM)?  Do we have comparison pictures?

Those addons are worse rip offs than P3D ever had. A lot worse. And P3D needed a lot more addons, go figure.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

It's funny, when I brought this up a few days ago, I got ripped a new @#$% and was accused by some members of criticizing MSFS and Simmarket, neither of which was the case. These items are popping up at a rate I have never seen, so I wonder how much work really goes into these. I personally was never in the market for this type of product, but something doesn't add to up me with these. That said, they have a right to sell whatever they want, but I won't be biting. I will wait for the vultures to attack now.

I have bought the night lightning enhancement for the handcrafted airport LEMD of the Deluxe edition, developed by Dreamscenery. This purchase was really worth it.

The lightning of the default handcrafted airports is really bad. And with this addon LEMD looks much better at night.

But at the moment I would not buy more of these addons (perhaps EDDF 😉)

Rip offs of what ? Did you try anything from Illuminators?

For P3D I have the BM series and NE series which improved the nightlighting a lot.

Do you have any experience with these products Ed ? The first ones from a year ago I did not like. Amsterdam which is very recent looks quiet realistic …

I would not say 20usd is too expensive iff thats an airport you regularly use. I spent that today on a pizza delivery

that was frankly disgusting.

Hi Gerard:

No experience with them really, but I don't think they deserve their price, but it's just my impression.

Is that price for just one airport? And that is after you paid for the airport? If so, that makes addon airports that need help very expensive.

No, but even if it was the best night lighting in humankind's history, paying 12 euros for that is immensely overpriced. That's half a flytampa airport, which takes about 1-2 years of development. That stuff was obviously done in a single evening. It's not even close to a legit pricing.
MSFS' night lighting is already quite good, so unless every single flight of yours departs or ends at EHAM, I don't think it is worth it. And don't get me wrong, I paid thousands of euros for P3D and MSFS addons, so it's not about money or investing per se.

Thanks for responding.

The airport has a similar mod at Flightsim.to. So the city of Amsterdam remained.  I haven’t bought it ; I just wanted to know how users judged this.

There is no work at all. You can arrange the lamps yourself using the editor.

Among this garbage it is difficult to find something on SimMarket.
