FT CYYZ INBOUND

Featured Replies

I had only a little time tonight with the FlyTampa version, but I will say that on my machine --- 10700K, 3070 and 16 GB Ram -- it performs much, much better than REG Designs. I had no stutters and no blurring during my looking around, taxing and one take off. I also find the FlyTampa night lighting to be better.

Just in stalled CYYZ from FT and performance is amazing! Getting 50fps on the ground with the FBW and everything almost maxed out with LOD of 150. VERY happy and it looks great!

I'm seeing some comments about inaccuracies, like their are buildings that don't exist anymore. They have updated some of it to match how CYYZ looks in 2021/2022 while other parts are just ported from their 2015 based P3D version.

Any word on what buildings?  It’s been a while since I’ve been to YYZ (a little over two years for some reason 😉 ) so I’m not sure what’s changed.

So having read some comments over here and in the other thread, and figuring out that RegDesign's CYYZ was giving me a CTD every single time I overflew the terminals, I decided to just go ahead and get the FT. Some immediate observations: loading the flight takes probably half the time that it takes to load a flight at Reg's CYYZ. The performance is very good. Smooth flying. There are some details in the FT version that Reg didn't seme to have e.g. 3D taxiway and runway lights. However, after some brief comparisons with Google Maps I do indeed get the feeling that in some ways the FT CYYZ is a little outdated. The T3 satellite next to the Air Canada hanger seems to have different air cooling units (?) on top. Also the jetways on the T3 piers look a little different in FT, and while Reg's also are not a perfect 1:1 to reality, they seem a little more 'right'.

But what shall I say? I have never flown into CYYZ and so I'm a little lax on such details. The textures are top notch and performance is great. One thing FT has always been very good at is making airports seem 'worn' and 'alive'. That, in my mind, is why FT makes such good-looking sceneries.
