Is AI Traffic Broken

Featured Replies

I recently downloaded AIGs AI Manager for my sim but i noticed that AI traffic doesn't show up at all in the air and only on the ground parked. Is this a bug that Asobo still hasn't fixed or is there still a way to fix this issue.

Something what has never been working cannot be broken .... Sorry about my sarcasm, but I was fiddling around with ai traffic the last few days just to conclude that MSFS is far away from providing or supporting any reasonable ai traffic - no matter what approach/add-on is being used.

AIG is working fine for me. I have AI traffic flying around, taking off and landing at most airports.

AI traffic works (within the limits of MSFS) fine with AIG for me. I suppose you selected "AI offline" within MSFS, which you shouldn't, or set "ground aircraft", which you shouldn't either. I also suppose you do not use the AIGTC, which is the tool that injects traffic into MSFS. The AIManager only downloads the models and liveries, the AIGTC loads them into the sim. You should go and read the manual or watch some youtube tutorials.
But I'll try to help you here: Since you already downloaded the models and liveries you already did 90% of the job. Now you have to 1) download AIGTC, 2) start AIGTC, set the correct community folder path, close AIGTC, 3) start MSFS and load your flight, 4) start AIGTC again and click on "inject traffic" when it has loaded [if you start AIGTC before MSFS' main menu has appeared, it won't connect correctly with MSFS' simconnect].
After that you should have aircraft on the ground, taxiing (after a couple of minutes), in the air, landing etc. Next time you only have to do steps 3) and 4) again. Have fun!

No, that's all.

What are your FS 2020 traffic settings if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks in advance

I am not the one questioned, but I will answer nonetheless: For AIG you need AI traffic set to OFF and ground aircraft (those static generated by MSFS) to 0. Any aircraft will be generated by the AIGTC. Don‘t worry, with 100% traffic injection the big airports will be full (100 to 200 aircraft).

I think you will still see lot of problems related to AI movement. This is due to the bad MSFS AI engine. That’s where PSXT & RT come in. They inject live traffic and mostly depict accurate ai behavior. 90% of the time. 10% is still glitchy.

Yep only downside is real traffic is an additional monthly or yearly subscription so depends how much you want it

Hopefully not to confuse, but if you want both AIG Traffic (which only supports airliner traffic currently) AND standard GA traffic, you need to switch AI traffic to ON. The AI Traffic slider then only controls the amount of GA traffic and AIG-TC controls airliner traffic as normal. However this requires you to first install the AI GA Traffic mod. More info on this can be found here in the AVSIM forums: How to get GA traffic when using AIG - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) - The AVSIM Community

Personally, I have a problem where the TC will shut down and traffic will vanish after ten or so minutes of use, so instead I use AIG models with AI Traffic set to online/live. I only see 4-5 airplanes at busy airports, but at least they're using the right livery and aircraft type. 🤣

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
