April 28, 20224 yr I’ve seen in various topics that you should do A and B before updating. Like deleting some files and such. Can someone help me out and list those things before I update and where I can find those certain files, please? I have MS store version. Edited April 28, 20224 yr by Bdub22
April 28, 20224 yr If u have steam version I always rename Community folder, for ex. Community.old The update will create another Community folder auto matically. After the update always reboot the computer. Also when running the update, try not to run other programs. Just a few tips and hopefully everything goes fine. 10700kf, 3080 nividia, 32gbs 3400mhz, 1,000 watts power, M.2 DVMe !tb, boot, 1tb 7200rpm, storage, windows 10 home
April 28, 20224 yr I usually remove most addons from the community folder (Just leave navigraph using addon linker) and clear rolling cache before closing the sim, and restarting. go directly to the Xbox app, and download the first part. Once that's done, i then launch the sim, and it will kick into the rest of the update itself on launch. That just leaves the various files in the content manager to update. MS Store version AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive
April 28, 20224 yr No specific steps done here. I grab the updated MSFS launcher from MS Store, start MSFS, goto content manager and update what is offered there. Always worked. YMMV MS Store version Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
April 28, 20224 yr I dont have much trouble with the store version updates - I dont do anything special folder wise - but I do reboot after every update - just feels like when I don't I have more performance issues until I do.
April 28, 20224 yr Removing or renaming the community folder is not necessary. Asobo's wording is not very good when mentioning this which causes a lot of confusion. We know that whenever we run an update it may break some of our addons. This is nothing new, we've been dealing with this for years and years. So if you update the sim and have problems with crashing, simply remove addons from your community folder as one may need to be updated for in this case SU9 compatibility. All I do, and I've done this from the beginning is open the Microsoft Store, click Get Updates and let it do its thing. When that is done, I run MSFS and let it do its update. When that is done I go to the Content Manager and look for additional updates there. I restart the sim when everything is done. That is all. No need to over complicate this. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?
April 29, 20224 yr 1. Check windows update - reboot if anything critical. 2. Install any store updates for Xbox and store app - reboot if any. 3. Open Addon linker - disable all. 4. Backup my modded .cfg files from planes. 5. Go to store or xbox app and update sim, then to content mgr for any there. 6. Shut down sim, re-enable addons via linker. 7. Start sim, make sure grandkids aren't present and begin to utter things that would make a sailor blush. Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. April 29, 20224 yr Never erased anything from Community and never had a single problem with an update other than the bugs it brings 🙂 MFS updates are usually smooth as silk in my side. And fast !
