Has MSFS stalled?

If by "eye Candy" I guess you mean realistic scenery compared to make believe, flatten out, wall paper type scenery that is seen in other sims, mile after mile after boring  mile. Pilot 2 ATC, is also available in MSFS, you left that out.. You also left out Study level aircraft, of which there are soon to be several. MSFS also has PF3, which is frequently updated, not so for Pro ATC.

Yes. “Eye Candy” - amazing scenery.  My main motivation for flying sims is study level (e.g, ZIBO, Aerowinx, etc.)  - not scenery. MSFS still has a ways to go. But, yes, it will catch-up!  Yes. Pilot2ATC is available for MSFS - but haven’t started using it.: Dave offers great support. It’s on my radar. Have you flown the the X Plane Challenger 650?

Let me fix it for him 🙂

Xplane 11 (VR, study level aircraft, RC4, Pilot2ATC, add-ons, and collaborative community)

P3Dv5 (VR, study level aircraft, ProATC, and add-ons). I have spent a lot of money on add-ons.

Aerofly (VR, fun, fun, fun)

VTOL (VR, fun, fun, fun)

MSFS (VR, eye candy *, study level aircraft **, Pilot2ATC/PF3/etc, add-ons)
* aka realistic rendering of world/environment/lighting/weather/etc
** PMDG 737, Fenix A320, Maddog MD80, JF Bae 146, Milviz C310, FSW C414, Kodiak, PMDG DC6, etc etc

DCS (VR, very complex, missions, love the carrier and F18/C)

Aerowinx (study level)

Honestly. I could have added a bunch of add-ons for the other sims. So your “fix”  was pretty much your preference for MSFS.  I enjoy MSFS - but it is not my go to sim at the moment.

The phrase takes on negative connotation when used by fanatic loyalists to one of the other flight sims.  It's frequently used to downplay the role of what photorealistic 3D satellite imagery brings to the simulator, with the clear implication that it's secondary to authentic 'flight simulation' and so is somewhat superfluous.  And yet, of course, right after the other sims are installed myriad add-ons are acquired to enhance the scenery.  This can take on hours and upon hours of time and cost.  I think the reason this is lost on the fanatic loyalist has to do w/ the fact it's all they can do to remain anti-MSFS.  I'm only referring to those with a bad case of 'identity flight simulation' who are thankfully in a minority.

Well you went out of your way to only list "PMDG 737, and GA" for MSFS, so I thought it's only fair to provide a fuller list. And that's entirely fair MSFS is not your go to sim at the moment, thank you for coming on here to let us know that 🙂

No worries. I have been on ASIM since its beginning and never posted before. Interesting conversation…

when the interest starts to wane

If you like flight simulation, and consider MSFS to be a good sim, I don't understand why the interest would wane - which is why I said you needed another hobby 🙂

MSFS has satellite imagery for the whole world, so that doesn't need to change, the weather is the best any simulator has had and even some of the default aircraft are better than before.  Maybe you should consider some addons to help make MSFS feel more complete?  I fly GA only at the moment.  I use an iPad with Garmin Pilot, which is an EFB used by many GA pilots in the real world aircraft.  The Milviz C310 is a fantastic aircraft and is reasonable priced.  I follow all real world procedures when I fly, even out of the smallest airport - most airports have a web page where you can get local / non-standard procedures.  Online air traffic control offers real world procedures too while you fly with other simmers.

What kind of flying do you like to do?

It is so very sad when somebody has to defend a flight simulator - just why?  If you are going to finish it for him, you need to add...

Xplane 11 (VR, study level aircraft, RC4, Pilot2ATC, add-ons, and collaborative community)
< List of excellent aircraft not available in MSFS>

MSFS is my main simulator because it has taken flight simulation forward with its world environment, but that fact is pretty pointless when I want to fly one of my favourite aircraft only available in XPlane.

How long has XP been around, a couple of decades?   Can you imagine the number of aircraft MSFS 2020 will have a couple of years from now.

Loads, and I'm looking forward to all of them, that's if I can stop flying the Milviz C310R long enough 😁

Me too, coming in for a landing right now at LFML 13L Lank1G Star in the 310.

You should also add "collaborative community" to MSFS.  Fligthsim.to is mind blowing when you look at the sheer amount (10's of thousands) of free content that is on par with payware.  If thats not a collaborative community then I dont know what is... 😉

Has MSFS Stalled?  Er no, I think it's about to lift off.
