Real 737 pilot praises Zibo flight model.

Featured Replies

So, real 737 pilot flightdeck2sim on YT has recently made a back to back flight comparing Zibo 737 in X-Plane with another, just released, payware 737 for a competing sim.

He praised the flight model and the ground model (taxiing, ground roll) of the Zibo 737. His words:

"Just jumping back into the Zibo mod 737 I was like, oh yeah, that's why I love X-Plane 11. [...] And the handling, take off and landing is so much nicer, ground taxiing as well. [...] If you still want the flight dynamics, it's X-Plane 11. [...] Would I recommend the Zibo mod? This is for me still my favorite 737. [...] If you want an aircraft that handles very very accurately, it's Zibo for that."

The guy is not a "Captain"... otherwise he would have had a different opinion... 🙂

"Captains..." magister dixit....

I have both and I was surprised how very similar they feel. Landing the PMDG is as easy as landing the Zibo.

Im really waiting to test the new flight model for x-plane 12 not just for zibo but including the dozen little fixes with BETA Alia team and the recent IAF instructor & Austin supersonic madness (in a good way!). X-plane 11 flight model begins to sound like legacy compared to that! All this should really widen up the envelope of accurate raw performance with no "cheats", hopefully.

I believe the Zibo mod - my favourite aircraft in any simulator, bar none - does not even support the experimental flight model in xp11 far less any bells and whistles xp12 may bring.

Otherwise, good try 😜.

Both the Zibo and the PMDG are superb. But both, and everything else ever produced is about to be usurped by the Fenix A320. flightdeck2sim is streaming it now and is bowled over. It will cost just £50. Times change. A new era for affordable study level flight simming has arrived. I very much doubt that you are gong to see flightdeck2sim back in XP anytime soon.

Nah, I very much doubt you're right. He said he's looking forward to XP12, sorry. 😉

Watch the stream. Listen to him. This plane costs £50. Hopefully the days of extortionately priced addons are over.

Indeed! Infact, in XP we have a study level aircraft (more or less on par with PMDG) that costs 0$!

PMDG, Toliss, Leonardo, FF and all the other tired old developers have been usurped by the Fenix both on price and quality. It's a good thing for the hobby. The bar has been raised and the price has been lowered.

Considering that the flight model of Zibo's 737 has been tuned and tweaked to handle as plausibly as possible and that everybody on the team is a volunteer, not spending effort on a separate EFM version with any possible maintenance headaches is fair.

I'm confident that a XP12 compliant release will emerge from Zibo's team. Maybe one is already being tested in the alpha version.

Nope, they're not, unless the simulator platform and software environment drastically cuts down the required time to pump out a fully fledged digital rendition of an aircraft. Just because one developer gives away his/her work for free or little money doesn't mean that another developer will follow suit, especially not if the other product is completely different.

Flight simming has always been a luxury hobby, with no consideration for personal budgets.

More people to sell to means you can price lower without cutting time. And the opposite is true as well, the Challenger 650 might serve as an example here

FlightDeck2Sim also said the systems for the MSFS PMDG 737 was better than the Zibo. Overall, FlightDeck2Sim said he has no preference between the PMDG 737 for MSFS and Zibo.

Infact, this thread is about the flight model. Zibo is clearly better in all aspects of the flight model, including ground physics. I give preminence to flight models in a flight sim, but that's subjective, others may have different priorities.
