June 14, 20223 yr I built the below specs couple years ago was wondering if a CPU upgrade would help me with MSFS 2020 at all or will the upgrade show little results? Appreciate it! Intel Core I7- 10700K 32 GB of Ram 3080TI Graphics Card Anthony Neumann
June 14, 20223 yr Little results, even more little if you're running 2K/4K. Wouldn't do it. 10700K is a nice CPU. Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Appreciate it! Intel Core I7- 10700K 32 GB of Ram 3080TI Graphics Card I think it really would be a great thing for you to do, and I'll give you 20 cents-on-the-dollar for your entire computer. Actually, I hate to put it this way, but I think it's important to be honest...are you crazy, or do you have excess cash and you just can't find anything useful to spend it on? i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
June 15, 20223 yr Author No excess cash but I really don’t fully know all computers and what’s best. Right now I am cpu limited. So was just curious if the 12th generations would eliminate that. Anthony Neumann

You will probably see far better results just tweaking your settings than a cpu swap unless your going for a weird 1080p high refresh rate setup for msfs for some odd reason. June 16, 20223 yr That is a pretty robust computer. If the CPU has a good cooler, you might get a little more performance by overclocking the CPU. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 7, 20223 yr Yes, stand pat. Don't change anything. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
July 10, 20223 yr Now, what about a 9700k overclocked to 4.9, does it make sense to jump to a 12900k? or is it better to wait another generation? I run 4k with a 3080ti also. Ramon De Valencia AMD 9950X3D / 64GB DDR5 6000MHz / RTX 5090 / 1200 watt PSU MSFS 2020 and 2024
July 10, 20223 yr The answer should not be hard to find. A new CPU and motherboard to pay for and most likely no difference in the performance of the GPU heavy MSFS. Edited July 10, 20223 yr by Reader

I run 4k with a 3080ti also. No, wait. Also with dx12 getting usable, it seems advisable to wait and see how one's system performs in dx12. At least for people running 5 GHz cpus and 3000 series GPUs 😉 Edited July 10, 20223 yr by rka Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉
July 12, 20223 yr Don`t buy Nvidia TDP to high save the planet buy AMD. AMD Foresees GPUs With TDPs up to 700W by 2025 | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) 😁😁😁😁. In a few years you will not need central heating just leave the PC on 24/7. Edited July 12, 20223 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.
