In MSFS You're Not A Person, You're A Camera

Recommended Posts

The fact that you cannot actually "walk" in MSFS 2020 is an immersion killer. A lot of games are able to simulate your character actually walking, getting into a chair, etc.

In MSFS you're basically just gliding around like you're on rails. You can't actually climb into the left-hand seat, basically, all you can do is posítion your camera.

Hopefully, an enterprising modder is on this.

I like the drone camera far better than any of the walking features/corny avatar from P3d.

Great news, but I also can't move the drone to another environment, for example: cockpit for the passenger seats sector of the aircraft. On the outside I would also like to see the airfield or inside the departure lounge. I only see this on youtube. Is there any tutorial? Health always.

Pretty easy to do if you want to explore with the drone camera.

And what do you think a pilot is? And why should getting to your plane not be part of a flight sim? Or the walkaround? Why not let planes be parked in a hangar and open that? You really lack imagination big time. And If you didn't already know it.

Yeah and parts of GTA should inspire MSFS to include such things. There is a mod in GTA that enabled it to be conntected to a Smart TRainer and actually ride your bike indoors with actual watts needed get it going. Now imagine MSFS being that details on the ground thould I could ride Alpe D'Huez in MSFS on the ground like I do in Zwift (they have an 1:1 recreation there) and watching planes go over me that other users steer. Jorg Neumann hinted a bit at something like that in his last interview. They want to improve the Sim when below 500ft. And if that increase...maybe in 10 years is actually good enough that would enable them (or modders) to do incredible stuff. Just think of trains... cars... boats. Why not enhance the sim to make it more then a pure flight sim?

The possibilities of this game are practically endless, walking/running hell even driving around are achievable (the latter already!).

The only thing preventing full growth into a possible full on Planet Simulation is MS/Asobos vision, let's hope they share some belief that they can make this more than just a Flight Simulator.

Eventually, if homo insipiens continues to flourish which is in doubt, at some point we will have a total human culture simulator.  In it, you will live in a custom home in a city of your choosing.  You will hop in your Tesla ZX900 and race toward the local airport, with police on your tail for driving like a maniac.  They pull you over, and you tell them you're a Senior Captain L4 for United and are late for your departure.  She lets you go then escorts you to the airport.  You fly to SFO, and rent a car which is delivered to you after leaving the airport and you race to Pebble Beach Golf Course to play 18h before going out to the MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest to put yourself up against the best.  Back to KSFO then fly to Kenya to go on safari with a really hot guide.  Bring it on!

This community is so lost. Someone makes a very valid point and gets bashed by the grumpy ol' people.

I for myself totally agree with the OP.

Thanks.

Many people don't remember that, in 2003, a Boeing 727 was stolen from an airport in Angola and never recovered.

To be fair, almost every train simulator on the market has an avatar you can use to walk around the cabin / engine and operate the equipment. Some ship games do too, because there's a lot to explore.

Flight Sim 2020 honestly should have taken a page from P3D's avatar system, and allowed you to create a player character you can use to walk around the ramp / perform the walk around / planespot / etc. There's no additional drawback to fps, and for what it's worth, I imagine more people would use it than the average AVSIM'er would think. I would.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Even in a flight simulator you actually have to walk, lower yourself into a seat, get up, walk around, etc.
