July 11, 20223 yr Moderator Currently in my back garden at 16:50 local it’s 28.9°C (84°F) with relative humidity of 37%. Even sat still indoors it’s not that comfortable. And at 53°N it’s a lot closer to the North Pole than Arizona. Our houses are designed to retain heat unlike those in Spain etc. Hottest temp here was 35.4°C (96°F) back in July 2019. It’s interesting when records are broken but after a few days of excessive heat it’s nice to get back to more temperate conditions. July 11, 20223 yr Moderator The past few weeks have been averaging around 40.55ºC (105ºF) around four in the afternoon every day. Last month we had four days of monsoon type rain, and the pond in front of my house was filled nearly to overflowing the banks. Since then, we've had no rain and the pond level has dropped nearly four feet! I need to start keeping a camera on the front porch. I live so far out into the woods, it's very peaceful. A few days ago, an eagle landed on the roof of my car and left a loving deposit just before taking off again. 💩 Yesterday afternoon two small fawns appeared on the far side of my pond to take a drink. Unlike the eagle however, no lovely deposits were left behind. 😉 Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

RH gets down into single digits when it gets hot in the afternoons. That makes a big difference. And being a desert rat, I'm used to it. Bet you'd have more sympathy for us if you didn't have air-conditioning. 😃

Lots of Puffins though over on Herm Island and plenty of raptors. (Not velociraptors)

I think England wins though when you can sit outside in high summer with views like this... PS. I was stationed in East Anglia for 2 years and traveled all over England, Wales, and Scotland. I think the UK is a pretty country. I was trying to show that the Southwest USA is not all barren desert like a lot of people think. Up on the plateau and in the mountains in New Mexico and Arizona it is much greener and there are forests and meadows. It is also a lot cooler.
