July 17, 20223 yr Hi guys, unfortunately, the support at Fenix Discord channel isn't that great, so I'm trying to find an answer here. I always fly during daytime, so it's really annoying that I always have to turn the cockpit lights off when starting up the aircraft from the default pannel state. Is there any way to edit the existing panel states? I haven't found the file that holds those parameters. Thanks in advance!

Usually can get an answer within minutes. I never turn the cockpit lights off when starting up, why are you doing that?

Because it's a waste of energy, why do you need lights illuminating the panel when the sun is so bright, you need to pull down the visors? Well my questions in the Discord forum are always being ignored, god knows why...
July 17, 20223 yr You could use something like SPAD to turn off all the lights with one switch. This was for the FBW but should be able to do something similar for the FENIX:-

I was so annoyed by turning the lights all the time off and I found the best solution with Linda to turn all the lights off with just the pressing of 2 buttons - similar to SPAD what is described above. Would be nice to see someday a "real" cold and dark cockpit where everything is turned off, but of course there are certainly more important features. July 17, 20223 yr I just treat it as part of my preflight procedure. Verify gear is down, flaps retracted, weather radar off, then turn off the 4 lights (one overhead, one FCU, and two in the center panel). Discord works with smaller groups of people like some buddies playing games, which is what it originally was designed for. Large channels with thousands of people active can be chaotic. You have a couple of dedicated channels, but other than that there is no sorting of posts like in a forum where every topic has its own thread. On Discord, all the questions and answers are posted in one channel for a given topic resulting in tons of posts. If you don't immediately get an answer, other people post other things in the meantime and your post gets buried and moves up the screen quickly to a point which most people don't ever scroll to. If you do get an answer, other people will still post other stuff and you end up with some kind of cross-conversation-chaos when everyone is replying to different posts up and down the screen. Discord is good but with lots of people posting different things at more or less the same time it becomes a mess. 11 minutes ago, Biermuskel said: Would be nice to see someday a "real" cold and dark cockpit where everything is turned off, but of course there are certainly more important features. I'm sure the reason why the lights are on in the Fenix is that they are frequently left on in real life. You're not going to notice they are on in the cockpit until it gets dark, so many pilots and mechanics will just leave them on.

Same for the screens: I always used to turn all screens off for a cold and dark setup but they are always on in the Fenix and so I suppose this is more realistic. Having said that: I do always turn off the flood lights because that's a bit over the top for me personally. 😉

The old CRT screens are dimmed to prevent screen burn-in but aren't turned off because doing that constantly puts stress on the displays and may cause them to fail early, just like any CRT screen. The new LCD screens are dimmed to prolong their life as well, while others say it's also to save power.

Maybe someone at Fenix might do a realism check on the current c&d setup. 😉 Although I do use the turn around state more often nowadays. Edited July 17, 20223 yr by tup61

Just to clarify - Discord is not a place of formal support. If you require assistance from a staff member, please submit a ticket using the support portal. Additionally, the team is not working on the weekends, as they work inside normal working hours 🙂 14 hours ago, threegreen said: Actually, most if not all operators turn the screens in the A320 down in brightness as part of the secure checklist. For example, the CRTs should be dimmed for the reasons you mention, the LCDs don't really need it, but it doesn't hurt to do so, so an airline will "simplify" and just have it such that the screens should be dimmed as part of the secure checklist - prevents needing specific procedures for specific sub-models in the family. So... the screens should actually be dimmed with the cold and dark save state? Will this be changed in the future? (Or will we get the option to create our own save states? 😉 )
