Following the previous logic, would it not be pronounced "Clark Kant?"

Following the previous statement, there is no logic.🤣

PS. There is no rhyme or reason to English pronunciation (British English anyway). It is what it is.

What a pity @charliearon can’t be transported to England and told “ask the way to Reading”? 🤣

Any guesses as to how Southwark is pronounced? 😁

It’s something that drives me mad. Commentators in football (soccer) matches are equally guilty.

Floors are indoors, ground is outdoors. It’s not difficult. Just another aspect of the drive to the bottom when it comes to use of common sense.

Okay! Thanks for clearing up the "mystery" for me. Of course, being somewhat of a contrarian, I'm wondering if the second floor of any building is called the 1st floor or the 2nd floor? In the U.S. the 1st floor is called the "ground floor" followed by the next one being called the "2nd floor." And never is there any "13th floor!"

Some of these videos frighten the heck out of me, watching 100+ mph, high speed pursuits along a single lane country road at night where the road is bordered by tall hedge rows on both sides with nowhere for any opposing traffic to pull over!

More aviation related, I've lately been watching the series highlighting the "Charity Helicopters" rescues. It is fascinating!

I would also call the lowest floor the ground floor. The next one up would be the 1st floor. I base that logic on the floor numbers in lifts. We’re not superstitious. 😁

I haven’t seen the Derbyshire police chases but those drivers are trained to a very high level. Headlights probably make it safer than during daytime.

What happens when you throw Australia and New Zealand into the mix?  Oh, and lets not forget Canada eh?

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

And don't even start on the "posh" surnames. Featherstonehaugh and Cholmondeley or Beauchamp.🤣

Hello,

Using young and often disposable people to commit crime is as old as crime itself.
