August 31, 20223 yr Moderator For the past week I've been binge watching this fascinating series from Derbyshire, UK. I am very impressed with the extreme professionalism of these police constables! I've always wondered why folks from the UK refer to the ground as the "floor." Well, at least one of these cops was heard calling the ground the ground, live and on camera. "Get on the ground NOW!" What is still a mystery however is why the "e" in Derby is pronounced as an "a"... 😇 Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 31, 20223 yr "Folks from the UK" do not normally refer to the ground as the "floor", just the ones who cannot tell when they are outside or inside a building. Edited August 31, 20223 yr by Reader

August 31, 20223 yr I also have watched several episodes lately, as YouTube decided I might be interested in this. Interesting watching how police do their job in other parts of the world. Professionalism is definitely there. Enjoyed watching it. Well, there in only one - I believe it is Alex Boniface - who actually yelled loudly "Get on the ground NOW" The others would call out "Get on the floor" even when the legger was hip deep in the weeds! 🤣 Fr. The YouHooTube algorithm flagged some of their episodes to my attention as well. It may simply because it's being filmed, but I have yet to hear any profanity from any of the officers, unlike the Arkansas State Police and local county or city police who are constantly dropping "f" bombs towards their suspects. One person made a comment that he was planning to have sex that evening, and one of the constables laughed and said "Afraid I can't help you with that mate!" I was astonished at the serious national problem of young people stealing from HGV's and auto thefts. More astonishing however are the relatively light sentences they are given. 🥺 Fr. They walk around the parked tarpaulin curtain lorries and very quietly slice a peep hole to discover what goods are being carried. Once a "good haul" is located they communicate with their own confederates who then try to park close to the target vehicle. I don't recall the exact figure quoted, but it amounted to around €112,492,666 annually! Since the actual thieves are all juveniles, they rarely receive any actual prison time. 😟 Fr. Using young and often disposable people to commit crime is as old as crime itself.
