September 12, 20223 yr The thing I love about MSFS is the whole world is our playground when it comes to places to fly. I watched this video this afternoon by AV ANGEL and she is flying in New Zealand, which is a place I would have never thought about flying to. It is fantastic looking. Already set up a VA flight there for tomorrow. Check it out.
September 12, 20223 yr I'll check it out, once I'm done with my current flight in.... New Zealand 🙂 Doing an interim Kiwi tour between world trips. Actually I've been very lucky to visit NZ myself in RL, as I did a two week road / camping trip there. The natural beauty there is truly something to behold - and I think MSFS does it justice. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I love the scenery in MSFS, and I'm even working on fixing some of the problem areas in the Western US, but it's tough to do such a large area of correction. The best PR in the game overall though is still Europe (most consistent) probably, but also some spotty parts of the Eastern US get close to matching it, and South America Andes region is another great place to fly. South America has a lot of cheap payware airports that are very high quality, but it's VERY VERY remote in most of the Andes. One of the most dramatic flights I remember was starting from Chagual (SPGL). It's a large area, so I haven't flown all around there, but I was mainly flying the west coast of South America. Some of the most scenic places though are far from airports, like 50+ miles even from a grass strip. EDIT Oh I think SPGL might come with MSFS by default, was thinking of something else (not sure). But yes, that is where I was flying, haven't flown in a month there so had to think about it. Edited September 12, 20223 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

It's a real challenge to get out of that valley with any of the smaller planes, takes some real patience to stay in the river gorge area for so long to get enough elevation. I usually end up crashing, lol. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

Another good one to start from is Mariscal Sucre in Ecuador, another default enhanced airport. Then there’s El Alto, Bolivia. Worlds highest Intl airport I believe. Also- download some of the NZA Simulations freeware, you can grab it here: https://nzasimulations.com/product-category/freeware/ My personal preference is the South Island. The Mount Cook area is spectacular. My two favourites spots are Milford Sound through to Queenstown and secondly the area around NZMR Murchison just inland from Nelson. September 13, 20223 yr This place is never heard and beautiful. My goto place is Aosta Italy and French Courchevel airport. I like this kind of post that introduce the beautiful places for flying. Keep it going!
September 13, 20223 yr New Zealand is an amazing place (both North Island and South Island) in terms of geography, so much varied landscapes in a small space on both its main islands. Loved it when visiting in real life and also in MSFS, especially the more mountainous South Island. The Orbx New Zealand mesh as well as the Mt. Cook Region scenery enhancement from https://nzasimulations.com/ amp up the country even more, but of course the default scenery is great in and of it itself. On the topic of world discovery, I posted this on another thread recently but it got moved: These are some good websites to discover/plan destinations and flights in various areas of the MSFS world:https://worldtour.flights/https://flightspots.coAnd of course this section of the official forums is also a good resource: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/community/world-discovery/146 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
September 13, 20223 yr Favorite places to fly are Alaska, New Zealand, Norway, Western US, and South America. I do like the Eastern US at times as well, but even though the PR scenery is higher quality, the tree types bug me. They need to update the trees for the East US in a lot of places, it has that fringy look to a lot of them which gets tiring after a bit. The Western US is much closer to home is the main reason, so I've been to all the places I fly to (or almost all of them), so that makes a big difference too. I love the looks of flying in Europe, but I feel like a foreigner when flying in France and most parts of Europe. More so then when flying in New Zealand, I know that's odd, but that's just the way it is. Edited September 13, 20223 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
September 13, 20223 yr Just wait for the upcoming "Soaring" tittle and I look forward to see more simmers interested in exploring the beauty of SOARING ! I like her videos and product reviews. MFS is the ideal flight simulation platform to record this type of thematic videos. The accuracy, like never before seen, and at the same time the easiness with which it does it, and also the astoundingly innexpensive (less the power bills 🙂 ) way it offers to be used by someone with a decent network connection, makes MFS trully unique. I was allways more attracted by airline flight simulation, but these "Bush Flight Adeventures" are really tempting to try out ! September 13, 20223 yr As NZ was mentioned. Yesterday I tried getting into NZKE Waiheke, just 19nm NE of NZAA Auckland. It's a 630m grass strip with trees surrounding the field on all sides. Very hard to spot and even harder to get into. On top of that I had fairly strong x-winds to battle with. Needless to say, I should not even have attempted it in the V35... I somehow made it down by pretty much stalling it onto the runway. And the next flight I could barely get the Caravan clear of the treetops on takeoff. This is the sort of flying I really enjoy in MSFS! Edited September 13, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
September 13, 20223 yr My favorite area to fly in is Norway, also due to the fact that I've been there some 12 times during my childhood. I just love it over there. It's sometimes hard to fly in though, specially when you fly GA without GPS and want to use VOR only. Lot's of mountains blocking all those little airstrips. 😉 In P3D is seriously flew a few years in Norway alone with the Dash 8 Q400, doing real world Wideroe flights. Never got bored of it. Hope to be able to do those flights again in MSFS...! But I frequently fly there anyway with the Fenix A320, realistic or not. Pity the amount of airports is a bit limited when it comes to airliners... but as I said, I never get bored of them anyway. And yes, NZ is awesome!!! I fly there a lot when it's winter in Norway and I get sick and tired of the snow (and the lack of historic weather). 😉 Never been there but ever since watching the Lord of the Rings movies I had that country in the back of my mind as a great Norway-replacement. And it looks awesome in MSFS!
