And this, for many people (including myself), is the problem.  Don't get me wrong, I spend most of my flying time in the Zibo but still love MSFS for low and slow.

Considering you are downloading ortho every time you use MSFS, I find it odd you think downloading ortho is a problem.

From a visuals standpoint, no XP will probably never look as good as MSFS

This is exactly why I posted this image - MSFS can't portray the atmosphere as good as this.

Do you enjoy downloading the orthos manually?

Yes, I love it, because I'm asleep when it downloads.

Yeah, it'll be a cold day in hell before I get back into the headache-inducing ortho game of X-Plane ever again.

I guess you just highlighted the difference. In MSFS you'd be already flying...

As others have pointed out there's a slight difference between the two and your trying to obfuscate the matter doesn't help your credibility.  I'm just saying that the X-plane take on orthos isn't for everybody, and for those it isn't the comparison down low is quite stark.  In my opinion x-plane is better served by playing to its strengths - and it has many - rather than being touted as what, for most people, it'll never be.

OK guys, please don't turn this into another MSFS vs XP12 food fight.  It is actually possible to discuss XP without bringing SimZilla into the discussion.  Embrace that possibility.

Yeah in msfs I'd be already flying over a city that looks like it has just been nuked.

Well, I have them both and I'm happy with both. I do fly MSFS more, probably due to aircraft availability. I use Xplane for 757/767, MD11, 727, A350 and the A330. I use MSFS for the 737, DC6 and A320 which I fly more often than others. Either way, I am back and forth depending on what I feel like flying. Xplane 12 dropped and I grabbed it. Does not mean that I will stop using MSFS. They both serve my purpose very well. Why lock yourself down to one sim when you can have them all. I also run train simulators as well and have two different train sims.

Sparksy's screenshot stash might not be the most objective source of information when evaluating the current flight sim offering.

I think that screenshot looks good but can we stop with MSFS is just Orthos. That is 100% wrong. MSFS is streaming scenery which is build by an AI. The AI creates 3D building based on the 2D satellite images in non photogrammetry area. Its a lot more than just Ortho + OSM data. That being said. If you fly at FL380, Ortho are perfectly, it just that it takes a lot of disk space and buy creating them I feel like I am force to only fly in area where Ortho exist.  It feels like a limitation to me.

I would be flying XP12 while asleep?
