Especially this one looks like I have observed Earth from above during some flights at a local airfield. The view from a plane usually isn't colourful like a lolly 🍭😀 (unless you take photos and post process them). September 14, 20223 yr Team Laminar should be really proud of themselves with what they have achieved with the visuals. That screenshot looks very close to what you actually see from your aircraft window. Insane... Baber My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/HDOnlive
September 14, 20223 yr Everyone should be happy with what they're using. I'm sure if it were just left up to the developers, they'd each be congratulating each other on a job well done for each new release. As it is, the most vocal element of any community are the (word not allowed beginning with 'f' and ending with 's') which stir discontent and feed from the inevitable fallout between camps. Laminar, Asobo and even LM have done a fantastic job on their respective projects, especially given the formers budget and team size. Don't pay any attention to the naysayers as you're only playing into their hands by doing so. Just fly and enjoy 🙂 Edited September 14, 20223 yr by tronied
September 14, 20223 yr The video and the picture look great but keep in mind this is not what you get out of the box. You need to learn how to produce your ortho imagery and possibly a replacement for the default autogen. From here and until release it can only get better, my only concern being the non-beta release might be several months away Edited September 14, 20223 yr by peroni
September 14, 20223 yr The above point cannot be emphasized enough. This is not XP12 realism. It's XP12 with Ortho and XEurope realism and this added realism, that XP does not deliver itself, comes at a hefty fps cost (not counting the time to make ortho and the money for something to store it). Threads like this are misleading uninformed customers. Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Threads like this are misleading uninformed customers. The point also shouldn't be overemphasized. The pix are a good example of what is already possible in the XP12 beta just with the addition of a couple free add-ons (and HDD storage for ortho files is pretty cheap if you don't already have it). I believe the range of what is possible is what the vast majority of us here are most interested in...far more than the tired old "but it doesn't do that by default" red-herring arguments made mostly by people trying to stir the pot who don't fly any sim in its purely default state either. September 14, 20223 yr Looks like with a little help from Orbx? I haven't bought XP12 yet, although I will certainly be doing so in the future. From a visuals standpoint, no XP will probably never look as good as MSFS. But I really don't care because with XP I don't have to put up with all of the frustrations with MSFS which is basically stored in the cloud ... compared to XP which is physically stored on my computer. I am a control freak who wants to have a say of if and when I update the product.
September 14, 20223 yr Cool video, the lighting effects look great. Haven't purchase XP 12 yet, however I did try the demo, it runs quite good with my setup, just waiting for it to mature a bit. In my opinion it already looks better visually with accurate lighting and color saturation as compared to the over vibrant and often washed out look of MSFS. Now with the orthos and simheaven, that is cherry on top and Xplane 12 becomes a complete package. I have been using MSFS since it's Alpha release but after trying Xplane 12, I haven't fired it up once. Baber My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/HDOnlive

You can definitely do low and slow in Xplane 12 aswell and it looks absolutely gorgeous if not better than MSFS melted scenery. You just need simheaven's Xplane 12 update and orthos. Take a look in the screenshots section. I have posted some pics of my vfr flying in Switzerland. Baber My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/HDOnlive

My fps when I took that screenshot was about 70fps. Over large cities I get 30 - 40fps. My MSFS is locked at 33fps. Have you not added realism to MSFS with addons?
