DX12

Recommended Posts

So with this new update, should we be running DX12?  I am not sure what the benefits would be and am curious what everyone is experiencing.  In the previous update, I was told not to use it.

Try it. Use it if it works for you. There is no "should" or "shouldn't".

As us boomers used to say, If it feels good, do it.

Is it just better graphics?  I am not sure what it does necessarily

Better memory management and CPU utilization.

Mostly benefits newer RTX2/3 series with DX12?

I am still on 1080TI waiting for a new build still.

Diskcleaner for shaders shifting between DX11 and 12?

Thanks Michael Moe

DX12 runs great on an RTX3080 with the new Nvidia studio drivers which have the memory management fix.  MSFS is running better and smoother than ever for me.

My only conundrum is whether I prefer DLSS or TAA as whilst DLSS performs slightly better, TAA looks slightly better (though not much between the two) at 1440 rez.

I don't know if this is really the case, but DX12 for me (3080 Ti) causes the airport pavement textures to fail and not draw (patches of it).

Yep I was at EGLL using DX12 recently and I saw graphics glitching during taxi (e.g. pixels fading upon movement).  Wasn't sure whether it was due to the Inibuilds mod or DX12.  I need to test more elswhere admittedly.  (I'm using a 3070)

you guys with graphics glitches either need to be using the studio nvidia driver or wait for the release of the game ready driver.  They said DX12 needs the new driver

It's a issue with DX12 and certain cards. I reported it during Beta. Even Asobo airports have the same problem.

Noted thank you.  I should have said I'm using the latest studio ready driver

Running DX12 on a 3080Ti with latest studio drivers and can confirm the same issue at freeware Stansted.

It's not a DX12 issue. Happens in DX11 as well.

They managed to introduce a new bug it seems.
