Fenix update fail, went back to v1.0.2.104

Featured Replies

Had to revert back to the last amazing version of Fenix's A320.  Here's what I found is off based on the amazing effort that started out (would love to hear others observations):

1. First out the gate is the sound set. The first version was great with a few areas than needed addressing (for me hydraulic and the speed brake sound).  Fast forward to the new version's cockpit engine and wind sounds, they remind me of the old 2D panel days where sound guys designed sets where it sounded like you were sitting right on top of the engines.  It wasn't until Level-D's 767 that a developer named Eric Ernst (rest in peace) pushed back on simmers and flat out told them, "You don't have loud engine noise in the cockpit of Airliners'.  That prompted a whole sound set revolution in sound set design.  Today thanks to MSFS the sound changes as you move through the cabin (Fenix still has this but the cockpit is too loud).  The last set Fenix came out with was perfect in this regard.  In my time with Northwest Level-D simulators in Eagan MN. before the Delta merger (that took everything to Atlanta) I spent quite a bit of time in the A319/320 simulators.  I had to bounce back and forth due to availability at times but had a blast back in those years.  The 744 was amazing as well although we have far greater in the visual department than they had back then.  Either way Fenix hit it out the ballpark.  Now I guess from user feedback we have a sound set that sounds like the early days are back again.  Much of this real world pilots can better comment than I.  I'm just glad for a moment in time it came together perfect.  Even FBW is in a better footing now.  Hopefully improvement can come with future updates and sanity can return in the sound department for this add-on

2.  Now that SU10 is out it's very hard to tune the autopilot with this latest update.  Now that we have gust in the sim instead of Fenix keeping the click range as it was they reduced it.  Now as the cockpit bounces around especially after takeoff you can barely tune the AP without a sudden zoom out or in.  It's a very frustrating experience now and if you use FSRealistic forget about it.

3. The bird seems underpowered now.  You can barely get to 32,000ft.  It seems the engines don't have the thrust they should have compared to before.  I'd have to check the numbers but based on it's competition in the real world and the sim the PMDG 737-800 has more juice than the Airbus now.  Again this has to be researched properly so I'll admit I'm in simmer mode on this one.  I don't remember the Level-D simulator struggling to get to 36,000ft.  It wasn't 2,000fpm but it sure wasn't 400FPM.

All in all I got frustrated and went back to v1.0.2.104.  That sound set was great.  It was especially nice with FSRealistic.

You didn't notice the excessively high N1 on approach or the massive pitch down on flaps 2-3, or the total loss of elevator control on landing?  But yet the sounds are what got you???  ROFL.

I can't say I have personal issue with the sound set in the new Fenix updates. You can always turn off the avionics cooling on the overhead if you find it too loud! 😉

My guess is you have FS Realistic Turbulence movement set too high. Turn it down, and you will have no problem adjusting knobs. As for the power, I climbed to FL 340 today, and when I was approaching it I was still getting around 1300 FPM..

Don't see any of the problems you are describing, no pitch down, stay right on the G/S from Flaps 1 to full flaps. Elevator is fine for the flare. landing I did before lunch was 173 FPM, no bounce.

Yeah, apparently it's a known issue, but not affecting all users.  Kind of strange.  Post hotfix, the first flight I did was Ok, but on the second flight (turn around), it went back to the behaviors of the first hotfix.

I like the new engine sounds.  The older version had the bass turned up to 11.  I have a subwoofer too so those sounds might have been more exaggerated for me.  Also, if you have FSRealistic you can select frame freeze which will stop movement shaking while you are using your mouse.

I have no problem keeping on  the centerline on takeoff and on landing, but I use rudder pedals.

So do I and a separate joystick just for the tiller , this uncontrollable landing rollout re appeared following a small update just before SU10 public release ( I was in beta ) I've never encountered this before , regardless of what I do it will not go away , warthog stick, TCA throttle quad, Logitech pedals and logitech joystick for the tiller

I don't screw around with the Tiller, because I have heard so many problem with people on landing, running off the runway because of the tiller setting. I just use the rudder, and it steers the A 320 perfectly, even making a you turn on the runway, if I have to.

Yes, I love this feature, but it seems like it is trashed in SU10.  It wasn't working for me yesterday.  I have had too turn turbulence right down.

Disregard, you are talking about the freeze feature, I never have used that.

I still cannot do a proper touch down with the latest update. It bounces all over the place. And not a little bounce, it's a huge leap. Back to the hangar. Hopefully they will nail it in the next update.

Have you installed the Hotfix?
