Landing 737 versus Fenix A 320

I wouldn't pay any notice of the description of the behavior of the real A320 in that video. If you land with a bit of crab you categorically do not immediately veer upwind.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing, is the landing much better now?

Just did two flights between KLAS and KLAX on v1.0.2.104. Perfect flight both ways. No issues on departure, no random autopilot disconnects in cruise, no stalls or loss of control on approach. And best of all, both were great landings. I did nothing different then I have always done since the Fenix came out.

Glad to hear that. I think I am going to switch back too.

Haha I decided to try taking the PMDG -700 to Key West during the hurricane. Wind was a direct cross wind from the right gusting into the low 50s.  Obviously wouldn't try it in reality, but it's a sim, so let's see what happens, right?

On touchdown, with full left rudder, full left differential brake, and full right aileron, the plane cocked right into the wind (ok)... and then departed the runway to the right, INTO the wind! It was hilarious.

Yeah, they've got a bit of work to do with crosswind behavior yet lol.

Wish you had tried it with the FBW. Would have been interested in how it did.

Congratulations. Still doesn’t solve the problems many others are having. You already posted in this topic that you have no problems landing the A320 so why keep repeating it. Do you have a solution besides practice?

No I really do not have any other solution, sorry 😕

Just wondering  what users are experiencing in landing rates if they are flying both the PMDG 737 and the Fenix A 320.

Fenix A320 in the hangar temporarily for me, cannot decently land this bird anymore since last two updates. That's a pity. Hope Fenix people may solve the AC model behavior in the next updates.

Happy flying,

Happy flying,

People that are having a problem landing the Fenix now should make sure they post that on their Discord page. Some people are posting that it is great now, and no landing problems, which is not what I am experiencing.

Will do Bob.

The AC literally falls off the sky during flare in manual landing. Attempts to correct the attitude result in hard landings and long bounces (Vamsys Pegasus tracking marks it as "airborne more than 5 sec and "GA", go figure!). Useless AC for me in this state: in the hangar til further fixes, not willing being fired by VRYR 😆

On top of that, at least in my setup, still no contrails at high FL.

Happy flying,

Happy flying,

A few people have cured their landing problems by rolling back to the version released before the update v1.0.2.104  I have had a couple of comments on my landings thanks to the Fenix, from my VA.  I explained to them that the Fenix has landing issues....Contrails will be back in the next patch.

I have tried three joysticks now, the $200 vkb Gladiator SCE premium (only tested it once), the $80 Thrustmaster 1600m, and the $30 Logitech 3D Extreme Pro. IMO, it's a mish mash in that some planes are more landable with the more expensive joysticks. If anyone owns the Logitech 3D extreme pro and does not fly off the runway after landing, good job. That said, ergonomically speaking, I much prefer the Logitech unfortunately, so I'm still searching for that perfect controller. With the Logitech, a LOT of planes are harder to control, even in the air sometimes, it's very very twitchy.

It seems like the issue is more about which controller to which plane someone is using. It's like a bell curve with the Joystick being a modifying factor, so a LOT of it is the controller, some of it is the plane aerodynamics.

I’m interested in the issues with landing.

Prior to this most recent update I cannot control the plane after touchdown with a crosswind >5knots, and will almost always drift off the runway once the nose is on the ground with excessive input from the rudder axis.

The most recent update seems to have fixed this issue, for which I am happy about. I am using the Thrustmaster A320 stick and throttle only.

I am wondering whether if you guys use rudder pedals and if this makes any difference? As I can see that several of you have now reverted back to .104 version.

Thanks!

I frankly can't see imagine  flying  something like the Fenix or PMDG 737 without rudder pedals.
