Landing 737 versus Fenix A 320

Featured Replies

Just wondering  what users are experiencing in landing rates if they are flying both the PMDG 737 and the Fenix A 320.

for some reason after SU10, it feels like (wave surfing) after landing, noticed to be more aggressive on the FENIX.

I want to get the airplane down as expeditiously as possible, I barely pay attention to my landing rate.  If I'm at the right speed based on temp, altitude, winds, my weight -- if I hit that speed on touchdown my landing rate should be relatively all right.   At least in the PMDG 737.   In SU10 I haven't done enough flights to tell if that's changed.  I may have noticed a little bit of what penta_a mentions, I'll have to watch for this.

I couldn’t tell you my landing rate but I find the pmdg’s 737-700 handles the landings a lot better than the Fenix even after there last hotfix but I really like both planes

All over the place. According to SLC, my average right now with the Fenix is -258 and with the 737 it's -124. I think the 737 being lower to the ground gives me more ground effect to soften the crash, but idk.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

That is about what I am getting, and I have Landing rates from years ago when I flew the PMDG 737 in PD3, and they are about 100+ fpm lower than I can get in the Fenix. This is the most difficult aircraft to consistently land for me, even after all the hotfix patches. It seems to me that the Fenix wants to level off when close to the runway, and I have to force it to descend, which results and erratic  flare point.

Totally agree with that for sure

Maybe this is just me but I can't land the Fenix consistently.........not really sure "why" either.   The PMDG feels much "nicer" or easier or responsive I'm not sure what the difference is.  It feels particularly heavy in the flare.  I do alternative quite a bit between the two.  One thing that doesn't help is performance in the Fenix on my ageing rig is worse so maybe its just not as smooth idk.

I don't know much about the 'bus, but IIRC there's a flare logic that forces nose-down input when FLARE is displayed on the PFD. There's a chance the Fenix uses real World elevator curves which might be insufficient for MSFS's non-real World ground effect.

I am seriously thinking about getting the PMDG 737, because these erratic landings in the Fenix are really starting to annoy me.

It is a common misconception among simmers , especially among those without RW experience, to rate a landing by its rate. Excluding the extreme, rate is by far not the most important criterion. In fact, sometimes a firm landing would be the correct thing to do rather than a greaser ( say, with a wet surface).

Seems a lot better with the Fenix since the latest update here. A couple of good flights yesterday with two good landings and no swinging off to either side despite a cross wind.
