At a loss concerning the FBW A320(Dev)

I have been trying for months to determine the cause of a persistant stutter that occurs only in the FBW A320. This does not occur when using any of Asobo's in game aircraft. This stutter more resembles a one second freeze most of the time, and occurs every 30-60 seconds when at low altitude or when taxiing. I've used every setting combo in the game and nvidia settings to no avail. There are a couple of threads in the forums and also in the FBW discord that discuss this, but no one seems to pinpoint it. If possible could someone take a look at the video and tell me what might be happening. I've heard grumblings that that's normal for the FBW. Surely not, because there would be more complaints. I'm wondering if I decide to buy the Fenix, will I face the same issue. Thanks for your time and answers in advance.

You not alone with that, seeing this issue aswell.

Mostly flying the experimentel but this happens with the Developer also..

I think this is a code thing, unfortunately and as you i don't have that Problem with Asobo planes.

At the moment i like to fly more the Fenix because it is almost stutterfree.

Very unfortunate about the FBW one, would fly her more but those stutters are annoying..

cheers 😉

I have a different problem - which only happens with the A320 FBW. It doesn't stutter for me, but the autothrottle will never engage on take-off or thereafter. Nothing I do can changes this. It started happening after SU9 and has never changed since. (Haven't tried it in SU10 yet).

So like pmplayer I mostly fly the Fenix as it's perfect in that (and most other) respects.

Like you said there are a few threads in the MSFS Forum about the FBW Microstutter issue - so it seems it is related to FBW...let´s hope it gets fixed.

Actually i tested all 3 FBW versions (Stable, Dev, Exp) and for now i am happy with Stable - the performance is better and it "feels" more fluid.

Just for sake, if you don`t get the AP to on did you trie to take your pitch down to a moderate climb and trie to push it to on again ?

Because the AP gets not set as you are out of some limitations that happens for example if your pitch gets to high after lifting up from the runway but after that i am not shure it is the problem for you..

cheers 😉

Was noticing this problem for awhile this summer with one of the 'Experimental' versions I downloaded (trying to keep it up to date).  I happen to update the package last month and found the developers seemed to have disabled Terrain and the decent needle on the ND screen (performance was stellar compared to before).  Went back after another update came out and the decent needle was back but the terrain radar was still disabled.  Performance was still as it should be.  I never updated it since (I need the decent needle).  Still haven't tried in in SU10 yet but I learned when a version is released that actually works, leave it alone. Don't update again until the official 'Stable' version is updated with all the features of the 'Experimental' version (the disclaimer does say it's 'Experimental' and/or 'Development' meaning all the hassle that comes with that🧐).  This of course only applies if you find it's no longer compatible with a sim and/or world update from Microsoft, then it's back to the next 'Experimental' version and hope it works.  The official 'Stable' version is missing some key items that keeps me from it.

Actually I take it all back. I tried a flight for the first time in a month and Autothrottle works perfectly again! I do not normally pitch up more than FD and 0.5 UP max. Just a guess unlike the Fenix. I agree FPS could be better as I did get some stutters on the ground. Thanks for all the comments and advice though… I’m no expert that’s for sure.

My problem with FBW is I can never get the Autopilot to engage.  I have tried flying this plane ever since it came out and have never got past takeoff.  I finally gave up because it takes so long for me to get from startup to takeoff, that it just isn't worth the time and effort.  I wish there was a way to start from the runway with everything set, so I could practice this part of the flight.

You mentioned that the pitch kept the Auto Throttle from engaging.  Do you think that it keeps the AP from engaging?

Yes you can 🙂 Put the FBW direct to start from a runway and the plane is ready to fly fully configurated,

Try switching off the co-pilot displays. I do that and notice better performance. Don't need them anyway in the captain seat.

That's a good Idea, wonder why  i not get behind that..🥳

Trying next flight and see what happens..

Thank you for your reply. When you say " the Fenix is almost stutter free", does that mean the hard 60-90 second interval of the .5 to 1.0 second hard stutter/freeze went away?. Don't want to plop down 50 bucks and have the same problem.

I do that on every flight. Doesn't help. But thanks for your reply.

I also experience that stutter now and then on the ground, most annoying it is during take off or landing. And I also switch off co-pilots displays. I´m sure though that FBW people will solve that eventually.

Tapani Österberg

Cockpit refresh rate I have at medium. Its still smooth but saves a lot of fps.
