DX12 is not compatible with the feature. I've noticed that since SU11 launched, turning on vsync in-game or using my trusty 30 FPS max frame rate limit trick in NCP, now creates manipulator lag and limits the main thread. Not using either of these gives me the smooth green dev mode FPS counter, though FPS now varies wildly. Also, I think it's worth noting what the different v-sync options in NCP do. Just a general observation, not directed at @F737MAX. Quote V-SYNC - Framerate synced with monitor refresh rate (no tearing, input lag, increasing input lag as framerate lowers since) V-SYNC OFF - Framerate un-synced (tearing, very little input lag) Adaptive Sync - At high framerates, VSync is enabled to eliminate tearing. At low frame rates, it's disabled to minimise stuttering. (input lag at high frame rates, tearing at low frame rates) G-SYNC / FreeSync - Syncs refresh rate to frame rate (no tearing, minor input lag) (important to note that if maximum refresh rate is hit, G-SYNC will no longer be functioning so then input lag may be encountered if V- SYNC is enabled, input lag will not be encountered if V-SYNC is disabled but tearing will be) FAST-SYNC - De-coupled rendering and monitor refresh. VSYNC OFF but the monitor will only render completely rendered frames, thus eliminating tearing (MINOR input lag but NO TEARING! ) also it is monitor agnostic so it will work with any screen. It is analogous to hardware triple buffering but does not back-pressure the render pipeline. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
November 19, 20223 yr It's been incredibly smooth in SU10 already so nothing new there. What is really a bummer right now is RT Online Traffic often ruins landings. Coming into an incredibly smooth flight from LOWW > LBSF locked at 36FPS until right before touchdown then all the way to the gate until I realized it was likely the RTOT. Turned it off, back to solid smooth to the gate. Yesterday was ridiculous coming into KLAX in the B78X. Frame rate unlocked was 46 or so until I was maybe 4 miles from touchdown and within short order frames dropped into the mid 20's. Did the exact same flight w/o RTOT and voila frame rate stayed up to 37 or so at touchdown at KLAX. I hope to heck the patch addresses some of this I sense it's worsened since SU11. Also have 2 monitors on my onboard Gpu for Pfd / Eicas maybe that had something to do with it? What you are saying could be right but for me it makes wonders on dx12….. So it is a mistery? November 19, 20223 yr With my new 13900KF, DX12 is now working much better for me than DX11. That is, silky smooth at 60 fps in most conditions. I am in SU11 update beta. November 19, 20223 yr This is an interesting thread. Because. It's starting to resemble FSX/P3D conversations relating to performance. "If you edit 17 files, download this, tweak that, set the settings of this to whatever everything will run smooth". We're progressing into the "constant maintenance" portion of MSFS 2020. Which is half the reason most get disenfranchised with simming in the first place. Spending more time tweaking and benchmarking than just enjoying what you have. When I was in the MSFS alpha 3 years ago, it was either endless tweaking of P3D and friends like AS/REX/Envtex/UTLive... or just running MSFS. Yes, I had to file bug reports (and I did) but otherwise it was just fun and flying. No tweaking, no addons, no performance issues (no VR at that time) and a wonderful new sim. Those were the days, my friend... Unfortunately, essentially, the one to blame is mostly myself.🙄 For buying addons, downloading from Flightsim.to, including updates every other day, reading cool tips on forums (some working, some just snake oil), trying new tools etc. Kind regards, Michael Intel i7-13700K / AsRock Z790 / Crucial 32 GB DDR 5 / ASUS RTX 4080OC 16GB / BeQuiet ATX 1000W / WD m.2 NVMe 2TB (System) / WD m.2 NVMe 4 TB (MSFS) / WD HDD 10 TB / XTOP+Saitek hardware panel / LG 34UM95 3440 x 1440 / HP Reverb 1 (2160x2160 per eye) / Win 11

Kind regards, Michael The 13900's are all i9, but the i5, i7, and i9 labels are all just simplicity really and don't tell the whole story - they are just a guide. I would say it depends what your expectations are, but an i9 is needed for MSFS if you want 4k 60fps, because you need the higher core speed for the main thread. The 13900 can go up to 5.8GHz! You would still need a decent GPU to go with it of course. Not sure if you know, but the KF version just doesn't have the inbuilt Intel graphics chip, and is slightly cheaper. If you think you ever need 'back-up' graphics in case your GPU blows, get a K. I still have my trust 1080Ti if I need it. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
