Cowan B206B3 is out now

Featured Replies

Cowan have managed to sneak out their MSFS B206B3 ahead of Xmas and it's available on their store now for $32.99 (same price as the XP versions on there)

https://cowansim.com/product/206b3-msfs/

There are a number of limitations and features still to be delivered, and personally while I absolutely trust Cowan will try to deliver them that does seem dependent on future changes to MSFS enabling them to happen - so I'd say make sure you understand what you get now to avoid any disappointment..

Looks a bit better visually than the Flyinside.

Wonder if it support TDS GTNXi?  Using knobs is a royal pain in VR 🙂

If the Nemeth 407 had TDS support I wouldn't even be looking at either of these new 206's.

But here I am hehe!

Definitely looks nice, I'll be curious to hear how it flies and sounds.

Great news, now it is time to research which is the best of the two options, in the end I may end up buying both versions anyway. 😁

Totally agree.

Question: does this use the MSFS flight dynamics? or is it custom, like Flyinside?

Robin

Well, I sprung for it.  Still has work to be done and they don't try to hide it.  They need to wait for Asobo to make some kind of adjustment before the throttle works with any hardware.  Also, my landing lights switch on my collective was not working for some reason and that may be tied into the other hardware issues they are having right now. I only took it for a brief flight, and I like it so far.  Sounds are good and have blade slap built in.  It seems very responsive with my set-up and I like the way she flies.  It feels good to have a 206 back in the hanger.

MSFS dynamics which is why I was waiting for this one.

Does it have the depth of emersion as the Flyinside? Ie. opening doors, working circuit breakers etc.

I didn't even get that far as I was freaking around with my throttle trying to get it to work until I read about the issue on their website.  I need to get off the sim for now but will try the doors out tomorrow.  The cockpit did look more realist in VR when compared to the FI version.  The FI version reminds me of the way the original Dodosim looked  but I put up with that because so much else about the Dodo was so awesome.

No it's not! It actually look a bit lower res than flyinside

Here is a  quick scoop:

Cons: SAS inop. autopilot inop (although panel is present) If you don't have copilot headset hanging right in a front obstructing view. Odd hard yaw to the right

Pros: Good fps

Interesting, maybe Flyinside's screen shots aren't giving themselves enough credit because to my eyes the screenshots for the Cowan version definitely look better (screenshots don't tell the entire story of course...)

I did couple more tries. It seems fly nice. Controllability in hovering and landing much better than Flyinside . In contrast, documentation is just checklist. Disabled SAS is probably biggest disappointment. The panel is there and even circuit breaker that works but autopilot unit is completely disabled and unclickable .

Most annoying thing you either have ugly copilot  seat next to you or headset hanging in a front blocking view. I prefer neither but there is no tablet to choose any options

Agreed. I sprung for it and the cheapo David Clark’s hanging in the windshield is stupidly annoying.

on the flip side it is very enjoyable to fly. I believe SAS and the AP are coming in time. Not a deal breaker for me as I won’t be using it for long sectors. 30ish mile jaunts in FSE for me.

That would be nice!
