December 31, 20223 yr Why do you want a Peugeot 206, it is still a good car nowadays anyway, it was my preferred car during some month many decades ago.
December 31, 20223 yr 6 hours ago, The Moose said: No lag here. No problem with smooth, controlled lift off. No problem with holding a steady hover. No problem with anything you mentioned to be honest. It just took a few hours of practice... it's now fully under my control and doe's what it should when it should. (Realistic settings/linear control profile) Sorry to say it, but nearly everything you mentioned is pilot error or a controls issue. This whole "external flight engine" is a complete red herring as well. They are doing nothing that a large amount of developers are doing.. using WASM to do custom stuff. Their Heli Manager does nothing but authentication and settings and can be turned off as soon as you start your flight, it has zero effect on FPS/Lag I've watched reviews from people who clearly hardly ever fly helis. I've seen reviews from people trying to fly it at 20FPS on their potatoes and wondering why it flys horribly. I've seen 206 pilots who say it's wrong and i've seen 206 pilots who say it's excellent. This is why I take no notice of reviewers or real world pilots 😉 Just to add, their post launch support has been fantastic. Mentioned an issue I was having on their forum and 3 hours later there's a DM waiting for me with a new beta to test (issue appears resolved) Top quality support! Many thanks - I'm VERY happy to hear about your positive experience with it! You're right - it's very difficult to tell which reviews to put stock in, which is why I've got a few different trusted reviewers for each different type of aircraft. No sense in watching an IRL fly-by-wire airline pilot evaluate a stick and rudder helo, right? 😉 But since I fly helos quite frequently in the other sims, i've become quite "spoiled" by the good flight dynamics they offer. E.g., I'm enjoying the Cabri, but I won't touch the B407 again until it gets fixed. And Cowan Sim is new to MSFS, so though he has a very good reputation in X-Plane, I'm cautious about his first addon here... So, still waiting, but will definitely add your input to my consideration 🙂 Edited December 31, 20223 yr by UrgentSiesta grammar
December 31, 20223 yr Quote Just because it’s complicated and challenging doesn’t necessarily means more realistic . Absolutely correct. Esp as the B206 has a reputation for being quite well mannered. Quote Does anyone here who actually flown 206 IRl can share their thoughts? The good news is one of the Fly inside devs is an actual owner (hence the highly rated sound set). Quote https://www.helisimmer.com/reviews/flyinside-bell-206-microsoft-flight-simulator The reviewer is an active duty US Army Aviator with time logged on the B206 and quite a few other helos.
December 31, 20223 yr I now have both. I am not rotor rated but I have flown a few piston helis as student. I have also worked as a camera man in 2 different Jet Rangers. I like both, they are different. I fly the HI a bit easier, it does not need the tilt left that does not feel quite right in the Cowan. But both are fine sim helis as far as sim helis go. I have flown a lot of them in XP and enjoy them a lot. I also fly the H145 and enjoy that, now that one is super easy it is a modern heli with lots of computer help. I do like the EMS pack for the H145. If I had to pick one I would go for the FI 206, over the Cowan. But that is just me. It feels better (to me) and I like having the working throttle. Both are good and will probably both get better. The FI is more of a FPS hog by 5 fps or so on my system. Just my nickel. December 31, 20223 yr I don't have the Cowan (although I'm thinking about it) but I'm with @The Moose on this one. No lag that I can detect with the FlyInside B206, and I really enjoy the sounds and flight model. No real issues holding a decent hover either. It's a hoot to get trimmed up in level flight and will fly hands-off long enough for me to go help the wife carry the groceries in from the car or other quick tasks when needed. I don't like to pause flights because I *do* get some crazy behavior after unpausing, so I guess their WASM code doesn't like pausing. It does simulate things like Vortex Ring State pretty well (from what I can tell) which bit me in the butt on on a slow final approach to my destination after a long cross-country flight. So you gotta be on your toes and respect that, which is exactly the kind of challenge that makes heli sim flying so dang fun. I have so many hours of enjoyment with their Bell 47G that I promised myself I'd get their next helicopter (and suspected it would be something in the Bell family) and it hasn't disappointed. I'm just hoping they'll do an OH-6 Cayuse next! Edited December 31, 20223 yr by Stoopy "That's what" - She
