Milviz stopped selling P3D products?

wanting to make a living for themselves

That is of course understandable, but by suddenly and completely dropping P3D etc., those developers are flipping off the people that made that possible for them up until very recently.

Suddenly, not so. They announced it in advance, didn't they ? I agree it would have been nice to keep selling the products for P3D, even without support, but I'm not sure how they work internally and what would have been the legal or internal consequences of such a choice...

Also, they didn't flip off the "people that made that possible etc..". They just followed this people over to the MSFS side. Because the vast majority of this people is over there now.

A "vast majority" maybe, but not all of them. And it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of these people.

Best regards, Dimitrios

There's nothing wrong with making a living, I understand that but like I said, I just don't understand why they can't keep them up for sale for those of us who don't use MSFS.  I'm not asking them to keep supporting the planes and updating them, I just want to be able to buy them as is.  All they would need to do is just put a disclaimer and make it clear in the description stating that those planes will no longer be supported or updated for future P3D versions.  They don't need to do anything except just keep them on the website for sale for those of us who still want to use legacy flight simulators, that's all I'm asking for.  It certainly can't take up very much of their time just to do that.

I don't like MSFS because every airplane I tried, including expensive 3rd party planes, even supposedly study level aircraft, all feel very arcade-like when hand flying and for that reason I don't use it.  MSFS is like 70% eye candy and 30% flight simulator and I regret ever wasting so much of my money on it just to be disappointed time and time again.  Options for good quality aircraft for P3Dv5 is limited.  I only recently started using P3Dv5 (I don't have any older versions) so even though these planes may have been out for a long time, I'm only just discovering them.  I've been all over the web checking out all the flight simulator stores out there but I've never seen any Milviz planes for sale on any of them, I didn't know about them until I recently discovered there website and being new to P3Dv5, I had no idea they were ever going to pull them from the store otherwise I would have already bought them if I had known.

Funny you mention the 'arcade look'. I had a short conversation with a friend a while back and one of the first descriptors from me was 'it looks fake'. There are a lot of ORBX sceneries where you can see details that someone took a LOT of time creating.

Also don't fret, there are other nice planes and places to buy

  • A2A (the pinnacle of GA and also has a great B17),
  • Ants (nice inexpensive quality),
  • Flight 1 (the iFly Boeings),
  • Just Flight (some nice Arrows and tons of others),
  • Quality Wings (nice jets),
  • NextGen (Citation CJ4X V2),
  • AeroSoft (famous for their Twin Otter and Airbuses),
  • FSL (high level airbus)
  • PMDG (Boeings)
  • Leonardo (MDs)
  • TFDi design (717)
  • Alabeo (the C421 is quite good and has a number of mods),
  • Carenado (lots of good mod kits for these, check the forum in AVSIM)
  • There are also a bunch of freebees over on Orbx Direct/Central.

And I could go on... Googling will help.

I even have a couple of FSX-SE planes migrated over.

Cheers

Wow thanks for the list.  I didn't see this post at first.  I'm still getting used to the notification system on this forum and I sometimes get confused and miss some.  And nice screenshot there, looks pretty.

Many of those names I do know of, at least to some degree, a few others I never heard of like the NextGen C4JX.  I just looked it up and it looks awesome.  I'll have to spend more time getting to know all of the planes I have to choose from for P3Dv5.  BTW I have thought about copying some of my favorite old FSX:SE planes over to P3Dv5 to see if they would work.  I'll have to definitely try that and I do have some of the free Aeroplane Heaven planes, like the Cessna 140, DC-3, C-119 Farichild.  Those are some very nice freebies imo.

Long quoted message removed.

I am intrigued.
Why is such a long reply, from several posts back, quoted, when the target message is immediately above and the reply is only four words and two numbers?

Because quoting a whole message requires minimal effort whereas copying selected text takes more effort. Sadly all too frequent on these boards.

I’ve edited it appropriately.

 "arcade look"

This descriptor and the similar "cartoonish" come up a lot in this forum and some elaboration on what exactly do they mean would be appreciated.  I suspect it is all in the eye of the beholder or maybe some just see what they want to see.

I find P3D users criticizing the colors of other sims quite amusing.

Most of the screenshots posted in this section have fake looking colors. Just look at the Beaver picture above. Are these colors realistic to you ?

I'll allow myself sharing something from my P3D:

This is again P3D.

If you don't like the term "cartoonish", I would say "clean/pristine" and "artificial" instead.
