January 12, 20233 yr Apologize if this has already been addressed, but how do I get my plane to load at a parking spot instead of on runway after loading a simbrief flight plan. If I select a parking spot after loading plan on map screen, it wipes out my flight plan and does it's own direct. I searched on this and saw comments from 2021. Do I need to use another flight plan tool? Thanks
January 12, 20233 yr I can't say I've ever run into this issue since I load the Simbrief plan at the gate/parking spot, I was unaware you could load them from the world map screen. Would you mind providing a little more information (aircraft, steps, etc.) so I or someone else could try to reproduce it and figure out what's going on?
January 12, 20233 yr Do you chose the parking spot via the map or via the drop-down menu on the top of the screen? Try the menu.
January 12, 20233 yr Author I've tried both, selecting from the drop down as well as zooming in on the airport and selecting a parking spot. either once switches everything to direct gps. I am unable to load from the within the sim because simbrief saves my flightplans with a .pln extension and MSFS apparently will only open up .flt plans from within the sim.
January 12, 20233 yr The files that the SimBrief Downloader gets are imported via the aircraft systems themselves, not through the MSFS flight plan functions (at least for the planes I use). The FBW32X doesn't even need a file on your computer since it just pulls from the cloud, so there's that too, so that's why I was asking which aircraft you're using. As for the world map if the flight plan (.PLN) is saved with a starting parking space or gate, that parking space/gate will load as well. Unless it's just right in front of my eyes and I can't see it, the SimBrief flight plan generator doesn't have an option for a starting gate or parking space, and thus wouldn't likely be saved with one. If that's not there, it's going to load whatever the .PLN file has (which is no starting location) so it would just choose the active runway as the starting space.
January 12, 20233 yr I have found that I have to choose the starting gate from drop down menu. If I choose it from the map it messes up the flight plan. Even when I choose it from the drop down menu the menu will often still show the runway as the starting point but as long as I select the gate it will work fine. I think it you select the gate multiple times it will mess up the flight plan. It’s an annoying bug which hopefully gets fixed. January 13, 20233 yr Author Hi, I've been trying this with the default baron 58. From what I can tell, there is no issue when saving for pmdg/airbus planes.
January 13, 20233 yr remove the departure sid in the sim and go direct and or enter each way point to manually create the departure. I get the same thing with certain departure Sid's. I haven't noticed the problem on approaches yet. Hope this help's & Happy Landings,

Do I need to use another flight plan tool? No... You can load. the .PLN file and then select the starting gate. The current release has a bug in the menus. After selecting the proper gate, it will still show that you are starting on the runway. Trust the Force, Luke. Your gate was properly selected and will be used when you hit fly now. 16 hours ago, BillStewart said: I've tried both, selecting from the drop down as well as zooming in on the airport and selecting a parking spot. either once switches everything to direct gps. Not sure which plane you are flying, but the .PLN file that you load on the world map is usually only used by ATC (so it knows your route and cruise altitude). The PMDG 737s will load the FP from the .RTE files, and the Fenix will pull it directly from Simbrief. Neither one uses the FP from the map as you fly. Short version. The .PLN file doesn't really affect your flight very much in either of those birds. It's probably the same for many other aircraft as well. January 14, 20233 yr Author thanks for the response. I'll try again, but when I select a gate, my flight plan changes to direct. I load up the flight and when i turn on the g1000, it shows a direct flight path instead of my original created in simbrief with various waypoints.
March 3, 20233 yr I'm getting the same issue very often lately. I hope they will solve it soon. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
March 9, 20233 yr As longs as you select the starting position from the dropdown menu (after loading the SB-flightplan) all should be good. Selecting it from the map will mess the plan up. Also take note that the menu may still show (or revert to) the runway as your starting selection: just zoom in to the plan and you should see you're starting position is still the selected spot. It's a bit buggy... I myself never use the map to set up a flight and load it manually into whatever device the plane has (lately that's usually the G3000 or G5000). If you need to set it up on the map because you want to use default ATC: if you set the plan manually in the (AAU1) G3000/G5000 (and probably other devices as well) you will get the option to file that plan to ATC ingame. Just make sure not to contact ATC before you completed the plan in the G3000/G5000. Edited March 9, 20233 yr by tup61
