Any Maddog pilots?

Featured Replies

I've neglected the Maddog for over 6 months now, and totally forgot how to operate it.

Gonna find some time and do atleast 2-3 weeks with it in depth.

I have been getting an itch to buy and get into this aircraft. I never did in previous sims and I really don't know why. It's a plane that interests me. The thing putting me off at the moment are the VC textures. The sounds, maybe I can live with, but the VC textures look dated. I also think because of the sound and visual issues it's overpriced for the modern sim environment.

However, if I can find some texture mod for it I may pull the trigger on it in the next month or two.

Ahh, look at that. Thank you very much. Top man. 👍

That's that then, it's on my list.

The maddog could be the best airliner in the sim, but it’s held back by 3 things, imo.  Lackluster textures, sounds, and super clunky interface (ie. load manager).  I’d still recommend it, and if they can improve upon these 3 areas it would even be worth the price, which right now is a bit high relative to the competition.

The Load Manager isnt mandatory (day to day fly) when using the Simbrief inbuild option via EFB/FMS. I believe this is fixed now from the P3D version.

The only reason I don't fly it all that much is that my sim time has been curtailed, often to the point where if I fly an airliner I'll get about to engine start, maybe holding short at the runway before I have to go do something else. Real life sucks sometimes. 😉  If I had more free time, I'd be flying the thing constantly. It's stellar. The gripes about textures and especially sounds are overblown. Many of the sound complaints involve "it's too quiet in the cockpit." Well, yeah, so was the real thing. Someone awhile back mentioned the first time he flew in the forward cabin in one, he wondered if they'd done a dead-stick takeoff. Having flown on the real thing myself, I can confirm that if you were up front, you didn't hear much from the engines.

It's a beautiful craft, but the sounds, just a bit too silent.

Well, turn your sound up "a bit louder".

Still in love with this bird. Need to try out some failures. Never bothered that much with those on this bird.

Also try look outside in drone mode inside the cockpit windows. I was surprised in the avionics details.
