Airports without navdata (no coverage, not historic)

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Some friends and I have been using APL from Simbitworld for the past few months. An issue which has come up for some of us (the ones who are like cool let's fly somewhere other than ORD or ATL) is that some countries don't have any Navigraph data, or won't be recognized in Simbrief, etc.

Any tips? My first thought is all of the airports in China that don't have international service, but there are some in Africa as well.

Any airport suitable for IFR has charts and therefore Navigraph data. I've never seen any airport being rejected by Simbrief, neither in China nor in Africa, please make some examples.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

There are many small airports w/o instrument approaches all over the world. They will not be listed in Navigraph etc. but the ID is still on a VFR chart (US or Canada) or similar.

To fly there on an IFR plan file to an airport close by with IFR procedures, and cancel IFR when in VFR conditions possible to navigate to the small airport.

This is how it is done in real life.

I hope this helps.

ZCAR or ZURK, not sure about the code, but it's Shigatse Peace Airport, It was military until 2010, after that it opened to commercial flights. You can't find it on Navigraph DB

16,404ft long runway, it's quite impressive

I expect that place will come down to this:

The official reason is exactly what we have written. The source data comes from each country, Jeppesen merge it to one large ARINC424 file and do some validation. This is explained very simple.

When the country doesn’t offer such data for public, Jeppesen can’t include it. The only way than is, that an airline (like as an example China Air) requests a tailored recordset, which will be created specially for this airline.

We are not an airline and we haven’t requested any tailored records, therefore we use the standard means all data which are available via the official AIP of each country.

Interesting,

I had a small chat with Aamir from Fenix, he will look if the pilot's airport MCDU function is available on the Honeywell MCDU. With that we will be able to add runway even if they do not exist on the database.

My experience is rather the opposite. They have always been rather "on the ball". If I had a sniff of anything to the contrary I wouldn't pay them every month.
