There is what appears to be a Garmin GNS 530 on the right side

🥱

I guess that time might have been short for Inbuilds but an actual old style INS would have been so much better than a GNS530

What sort of navigation will it have?  Not an FMC I assume.  But will it have GPS to simulate GLONASS or something similar?  Or straight radio navigation?

I believe they will slap a GPS on it and create a AP mode that will follow the GPS route.

no need to believe, look at what I posted last page. They're using a Garmin GPS in place of the system that was actually on the AN-225.

I imagine recreating the original system was not a viable option.

I was so thrilled when i found out about this. This is a total no brainer for me. I'm buying Mriya on day one. And the fact that the proceeds go to Ukraine towards rebuilding the plane is absolutely amazing!

A great addition to the simulator and they're doing exactly as I had hoped a developer would do which I suggested last year!

Just the small details such as the nose door taking 6 minutes to fully open is what I like! Hopefully it will be as close to the real 225 as they can get it, with cutting some corners. I'm not expecting study level.

@sd_flyer I went aboard Mriya at the Farnborough airshow in early 1990s ( I think it was about then, anyway), and some of the crew were there - I wonder if your father was one of them.

It is an incredibly interesting aircraft, and no doubt will be my first Marketplace purchase. I am a little puzzled, however, as to why the proceeds are being donated to Antonov, in order to help rebuild the aircraft. Even if the war ended tomorrow, it would be years before a replacement aircraft could be built, and I doubt the money raised by MSFS sales would pay for anything more than one small part of one engine. Given the situation in Ukraine right now, are there not more pressing demands for such funds ? Humanitarian needs, or maybe new civil-defence equipment ( fire engines, ambulances etc ) for example.

A new Mriya will be symbolic of Ukraine's eventual rebuilding, but right now I feel the money would be best spent on more immediate concerns.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Yes! That photo at the top of the thread is from 1990. My dad flew to Farnborough, La Burge, Vancouver many times!

Couple years ago Antonov company celebrated first flight of AN124. My dad was among first test crew and so he was invited to Kyiv for a celebration. You can recognize guy on the left, my dad is on the right. You clearly see FMC on center pedestal!

You mean this, guy?

I was in full mock up 125/225 cockpit level D sim training for a week. For a  guy who never flew anything larger that Piper Lance at the time it felt huge. I physically was not able to reach for a gear handle, so instructor always had to assist as a copilot. Yoke was huge  and hydraulic booster controls  felt very heavy; nevertheless, I adjusted in no time! My only problem was soviet style attitude indicator that I don't get to use to read correctly. But ergonomic was surprisingly really well! 6 pack was right in front of the gaze and all annunciator panels right above. I could easily grab all 6 throttles, and aileron.rudder trim controls where easily reachable in the middle pedestal just by putting right hand down to the side . My only trouble was a thrust reversal a huge handle that you have to move backward, before moving throttles - it was a bit confusing!

During a span of the week we did all kind of scenarios including engine failures (three on one side as well!), total six engine flameout at 10000 feet 20 km out at full gross, followed by a glide and emergency  landing without thrust reverse! I must say Kurlin was absolutely amazing as instructor. Very professional and very intelligent. Before each flight he would layout math on a board calculated speeds, pitch, distance . I just followed his instruction and everything turned out exactly how he intended! Sadly he passed away and didn't witnessed this horror of war and destruction of Mriya

The GotFriends Wilga has a soviet style attitude indicator as an option.

Yes. His last name Antonov as well but he is not related to designer. He came when my dad was retiring. At the time he was nex gen pilot; however, now he is old gen LOL

@sd_flyer I have a slightly off topic question for you.

There is something in your writing english that I recognized and it sparked my curiosity. In the wake of the russian invasion I started following a few Ukrainian YouTube channels that report in english on the state of things. One of them is even related to our hobby, because he is a commercial pilot and the war forced him to become a reporter on the war instead of being able to fly.

His speach pattern in english is similar to the way you write in one specific thing: The ommission of articles before objects.

Like in this example of a sentence that you wrote: "His last name Antonov as well but he is not related to designer.", missing the "the" before "designer".

I found the similarity striking so I wonder something about Ukrainian as a language. So my question is: Do articles not exist in Ukrainian? Which is why Ukrainian native speakers tend to forget to include them when writing or speaking english?

I had a professor in university who used to say his major was in a computer science - not in English. LOL Yes, I'm not native English speaker, so when I'm not careful I can get sloppy. Today was doing maintenance run flying to and from avionic shop and typing on the fly . So yes if I try hard, I can do better. After all I graduated with science degree here in the states. LOL At the same time you are right we don't have articles neither in Russian nor in Ukrainian languages🙂
