No Live Weather

I'm having the same experience as yesterday.  Upon loading the flight, weather is default conditions.  Then about 10 later it loads accurate winds, and temperatures.  Then ~5 minutes later it loads the rest (clouds and snow coverage).  Maybe what I'm seeing at 10 minutes is actually old METARs?  Once everything is loaded at 15 minutes though it seems to be current/accurate for me.

This is exactly what was happening to me yesterday, but today it is not loading most weather parameter's, if any at all. It is strange in that some people report normal weather, for others it loads after some time, and for others not at all. I can only surmise that it is some limitation on the server side. Hopefully it will be a quick fix once the Asobo people are back in the office tomorrow.

Even my standby, REX Weather isn't injecting clouds at the moment either.

I’ve seen several reports of this. I don’t use REX myself, but if that program cannot inject clouds either, perhaps the actual problem is something in the release version of SU11 AAU1 itself that is interfering with cloud generation, rather than a problem with the Live Weather servers.

Yes, it seems the issues began at just about the same time as that release so this is also possible, but surprising it was not picked up in the long beta period.

Perhaps but it would likely be only part of the issue as it's pulling junk from the server as evidenced by 5 day old nonsense METARs.

There is almost certainly a problem server side, I'm willing to bet, and I wouldn't be surprised if this could be fixed without an update to the sim itself.

Only time will tell though, I suppose.

I don't think the METAR's it displays and the actual weather injection are necessarily directly connected... However, my weather just loaded in after about 13 minutes sitting on the ground at CYTZ. The METAR is for today, 5 February at 1700Z and is pretty much spot on the current METAR I just looked up, and it matches the conditions I see here.

There is "not directly connected" in that the weather is an interpretation of what the current METAR is and then there is 5 day old nonsense junk METARs that are aboslutely nothing to do with the current weather which is what I was seeing yesterday and what others are still seeing today. I know some were asking for historical weather but I don't think this is what they had in mind🤣

When working correctly the METAR in the sim should match a real one that you can pull off many METAR websites or be very close to it. The weather depiction may be slightly different because of they way that works. After all, there will have been weather simulation since the last METER was published so it it will be close but not necessarily bang on. Often I may see a very slight pressure setting variation from the ATC compared to what is on the website or in-sim METAR but this is to be expected and it will always make sense.

However, when the sims in-sim METAR that it is pulling from the server is five days old when it's set to "Live Weather" then there is clearly something wrong. The situation many of us are seeing is that the sim may inject data such as pressure, winds and temp (sometimes) which when compared to the METAR on a website is correct but when you pull up the in-sim METAR that is five days old (or some variation on that theme) and looks nothing like the actual METAR which the sim will/may be injecting. Couple that with the fact it's refusing to depict the weather at all so everything looks CAVOK and the entire thing is profoundly broken.

This could be a combo of something in the last update along with a server issue or just a server issue. But it's very very broken. And they know it.

I'm sure they will get to the root of it soon enough.

All day Friday, Saturday and again today (EDT time zone) I've also had no Live weather except that the sim consistently adds a 3-knot surface wind from the southwest.

Between the outages and the crazy artificial turbulence I gave up and just rely on SoFly weather presets now. The situation sucks but at least that's a reliable Plan B.

I was fully expecting this to be fixed when they shot down that weather spy balloon that was up in the stratosphere sucking up all the MSFS weather data, but there must be some lag involved I guess.

It wasn’t a problem during the beta. I was involved day 1 and never encountered this bug.

There was not once such an issue during beta. Its their servers, API’s etc…

Yes, same here, seems to be injecting weather based on metars from 3 days ago.

This is really frustrating and I wish Asobo would get their act together.  Even my standby, REX Weather isn't injecting clouds at the moment either.

Very strange.

Make sure you are on the latest version of Weather Force.  I hadn't used it in months and it also wouldn't inject weather but then I updated to the latest version and it's now working fine.

I now remember why I stopped using it though as the weather transitions are unacceptably bad...worse than default MSFS.

Thanks for the reminder.  When I tried it earlier, I checked for updates within the application itself, and it told me I was still current.  After seeing your message, I went straight to the website, and sure enough, there's a new version.  Will install it and give it another go.

What's with the crazy winds today.Flew all over Scotland this morning with 20-30 knot winds, and now I am flying in between the Islands in Greece. and talking off in the Kodiak, I  almost got blown off the runway, 028 at 47 knots.....Cheez...

Oh, and prior to  takeoff, I got the low bandwidth alert also. I think the server needs a new battery.

What has been working for me on USA east server is loading in with live weather (which doesn't display).  Switching to another set like few clouds.  Then switching back to live weather.  Sometimes takes a few min to load in especially if you're in an area with snow cover.
