February 20, 20233 yr If you use the latest iterations of both, which do you prefer and why, if you will? Never have used the CJ4, used the Citation L very early on alot and stopped over a year ago after getting into APLv2 and currently am proficient in PMDG B738, FBW A320NX and AS CRJ700, but I'm using nothing for very light loads. The discussion about New Zealand update has me looking for a few smaller planes to add licenses for in APL. The L is full auto while the CJ4 still requires a bit more Pilot finesse. Both are free, and both showcase the excellent new GARMIN Nav systems from Working Title so it’s a Win no matter what you pick. Why not both? -B
February 20, 20233 yr I like both, although if I could only have one the C700 seems to get more flights so would choose that. Longer legs, faster and I can sit on APU whilst I am messing around before flight.... G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

Why not both? -B Thanks BT, I pretty much only use planes I'm willing to commit to becoming very proficient in so I can maintain or improve my pilot rating in A Pilot's Life v2, so right now only use the 3 planes mentioned above. I find when I don't fly each plane often enough I start to lose work flow competency and make simple mistakes. APL scores all flights from gate to gate and I love it! February 20, 20233 yr The longitude flies, is operated and looks like a real business jet. Also it has the great G5000. The CJ4 has only a (quite limited) FMC and I don't really fancy the design of the cockpit. But it does have a cabin you can go and visit during the flight. Since AAU1 I exclusively fly the Longitude if I want a change from airliners, I don't think I'll ever touch the CJ4 again. EDIT: Oh and what others said, the Longitude has a great range; you can do intercontinental flights at Mach 0.84 at 42000 feet, which will save you quite some time. February 20, 20233 yr Author Thanks for your insights Fiorentoni. I do have a lot of familiarity in the default Longitude, none in the G5000 per se, so it should be a piece of cake to get up to speed in. Are they used commericially as airliners? Haven't looked to see if APL has a place for them, but will in a few minutes. February 20, 20233 yr Both are great planes. I prefer the CJ4 slightly because I love the pro feeling of the fms. I also enjoy how the displays look and operate. And finally I like how the CJ4 flies...it's a freaking rocket under 10k - still decent under 20K. This might be surprising coming from a Garmin GTN and GNS lover.... But the Pro Line 21 seems so elegant I just prefer it over the G3000/5000. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Both great, immersive aircraft with fabulous systems, cockpit textures (Longitude in the lead as of now IMHO) and great sound. Unbelievable we'd be saying that about default aircraft in a MFD edition! I slightly prefer the Longitude as of now, as it takes advantage of the paradigm shift in quality of avionics that AAU1 has brougt. I also fly the HJET and TBM a lot and the commonality between the AAU G3000/5000 in them all makes transitioning between them a breeze. As Ryan does, I do love the ProLine 21, but as a 1440p flyer on modest settings, the smaller displays in the sim are a little harder to read for me. If you have a good set up it wouldn't be a factor I'm sure. For you APL progress I'd guess that the Longitude will get you progressing a little further, faster. February 21, 20233 yr Author Was anything else beyond avionics changed on the Longitude? I was imagining a lot more had been added but didn't know.
