March 28, 20233 yr I use Msi MAG B650 MORTAR wifi for my 79x3D. As my purchase research, ASUS's X670 MOBO have high VRM temperature issue in some test, so that's ruled out for me. And since I use msi for am4 for 5 years without problem, I got that rather than Gigabyte. As for B650 vs X670, I didn't see any advantage for PCIE5.0 so far... now there are some review on PCIE5.0 SSD, yeah, super fast.. but.... so what? As for USB, even with a 10x USB3.0 hub, I still managed to plug all TypeA port on the back... yeah... flight sim is a weird hobby.... there is still one port on hub, one typeC on the back and one 3.0+one 2.0 on the front panel available. The only issue I have so far is I'll got CPU and DRAM light steady on for almost one minute before it boot normally every single time I startup the system (including restart), even longer than boot from bios to windows....tried search up but can't find solution. But I normally put my system on sleep so not much problem for me then..

With GoFlight units I require a USB2 port. The GF166 units are extremely fussy about this. Any Asus recommendations for a high-end board please? I went with an Asus ROG Strix X670E-E. To me this is a "high end board" but everyone has different definitions of that. At $474 USD if you go up any you're talking $659 USD for an Asus ROG Crosshair. The $474 board will do everything I want it to do, and is actually probably overkill for my use. Comment about your particular situation: USB 3.1/3.2 is supposed to be backward-compatible with USB 2.0 devices. Given that...you would want to make sure that your GF units could plug into a USB 3 port and behave themselves. The Asus ROG Strix X670E-E has USB 2.0 *headers* which in my way of thinking means you could hook them to a USB port and it should work, but I do not own any GoFlight items. I'm certainly not well-schooled in USB connectivity to the point where I feel I can offer you any decent advice on this, other than to say ask someone who is. April 8, 20233 yr Moderator @Mace, many thanks for that. Chillblast stock the ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F which has 2 USB2 rear ports. I plug all my GoFlight units into a powered hub so one on the mobo is fine. Goflight have closed down so we’re stuck with USB2. Chillblast are now listing the 7800XD3 for pre-order so once FSL release Concorde I can go ahead with the order and sell my existing machine to a patient buyer. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 8, 20233 yr Moderator @turbomax, why are you so dismissive of decent components a few years old? My system will provide him with a decent upgrade. And if he wants a AMD CPU he’ll need a new mobo, new RAM, new graphics card, and maybe a new PSU. That will cost a lot more than 269. Strange you don’t list the components of your presumably state of the art system. 🙄 Ray (Cheshire, England).
