Without proper water masking, and not just there, honestly it's all meh at this point for me..

O'ahu has had water masking for ages. Though it doesn't look great around Ford Island, but that's mostly because the quality of the imagery.

Sure, some places do. Most of the world does not. Not even in those world updates. Until that becomes the norm and not an extra, it doesn't really feel like flying on such places

I agree the thread title is way off base if he is thinking this WU13 is for Hawaii.  It is not, maybe a little bit here and there (one airport upgrade on the big island), but, the bigger picture is the 13 countries with island chains:

Jorg Neumann has revealed on Microsoft Flight Simulator’s latest Developer Stream that World Update 13 will cover the remainder of the continent of Oceania, which includes 13 pacific islands spread out over 8 million square kilometres.

The 13 countries being covered by Asobo and Orbx, who are working on the update together in a partnership, are Micronesia, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

World Update 13 Heads to Oceania, Hawaii and Antarctica World Update 13 Heads to Oceania, Hawaii and Antarctica World Update 13 Heads to Oceania, Hawaii and Antarctica

Additionally, the Cook Islands, Guam, Easter Island, the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, and more will benefit from the update, along with the entire continent of Antarctica. These areas will take advantage of orthographic data gathered from the latest satellite imagery. Jorg said on stream he was also seeking to get a hold of photogrammetry data all of these areas, especially Hawaii although at this stage it is proving difficult simply because the data either doesn’t exist or Microsoft are having a hard time getting hold of it.

Some developers sometimes look for ideas to create an scenery/airport. With near future release of WU13 it would be great to have a more realistic option of Tabubil ( ICAO AYTB )  in Papua New Guinea.
This aerodrome is located between mountains, manages to accommodate GA traffic, as well as medium-sized commuters, such as the ATR, and has a CLOUD BREAKER GPS approach ( one way in- one way out ) that increases its appeal to 'simmers' looking for new options and challenges.

Straight from the Dev stream.  Do you really think MS gives a chit what Goggle thinks?

Not sure much the thinking, the usage thereof!

Ah well, the word goes that Windows 95 was presented on Commodore Amiga's. 🙂

It's not like Microsoft has a program that has the same tools as Google Earth.

This will be the third time Hawaii was been touched. The 2 US world updates did stuff with Hawaii, though not a lot.

USA Update 1 added some landmarks. USA Update 2 added new satellite imagery to at least O‘ahu. One of the two added new elevation data to at least O'ahu.

Based on the Q&A it sounds like the rest of the islands will get new elevation data.

In Flight, there was a little sloped dirt runway just north-west of Hilo which was my favourite place to land.  It isn't included in MSFS.  Nor are many of the smaller fields scattered around, and I don't know about the volcano either.
