Paying monthly is in general the most expensive variant you can choose. I would use this for testing out and then I'm satisfied I can always choose another package (2 or 3 year contract are most common). Btw. your VPN provider is one of the better ones ... Regarding bandwith: Throttling is commom practice by ISP and as well as VPN. Not only because of the money, also because of overload the server bandwith/port. In case of VPN you can simply switch to another server, for your ISP you can't. Many VPNs offer an overview of the current utilization of their servers, but be sure that latency will not be a problem for you. But I don't know of any VPN provider that automatically switches to another server. You have to do it yourself. This, in turn, assumes that you have to constantly check your connection speed. Be aware - using VPN can lower your normal internet speed at about 10 to 30%. This depends on many factors, but is mainly dependent on the connection, the connection protocols offered by the VPN and the server you use. Encryption is also a cause of this. Main criteria for the VPN provider you choose should be: Own server with RamDisk/GigPorts nearby your location and a sufficient number of servers anywhere else.If you are Netflix user or other streaming.... the VPN has to support it. Certified non protocolling might be important too. Have fun in search. Btw. yesterday I cancelled a contract with a VPN provider from the "north" (within the 30 days try and error period). In my country - 11 server, all at one location, all rented. Only one of them delivered satisfying down/upload rates (about 55% of ISP). Their highly acclaimed smart algorithm autoconnected me always to the crappiest server ..... with no overview of the current utilization (they do not offer it) you are going crazy. Best regards Detlef

Recommend "Traffic Monitor" on Github. Can be configured to run in the taskbar (older apps does not run in the taskbar Windows11 do to changes by Microsoft). Best regards Detlef

April 16, 20233 yr Good info. Comcast has been a joke for years. Switched to Fiber in 2007. I hate to say this but I'm retiring soon and want to move from the DC metro area but I'm so used to great internet speeds from Verizon that I'm not sure what area can accommodate my reliance on fiber gigabit speeds. Sad was looking at an 8 acre horse ranch in Buckeye, Wv. Wonder if Mesa, AZ has quality internet. Glad you solved your issues. i9-14900K / DDR6 / 4090 / 64 GB RAM
April 16, 20233 yr In Canada we are about to get into government internet censoring in a potentially big way. The way the bills are written there's currently no way to guess with any certainty what their targets will be. I'm hoping the vpn works to prevent/circumvent that. If I remember correctly Nord apparently has users in China who get past the country's censoring. Here's hoping there will be a work around here. I've given thought to musk's Starlink.

April 16, 20233 yr Don't shoot te messenger... But is has nothing to do with your ISP is cutting you off. That is not correct. I can download with 100Mb/s the whole day and it will always be 100Mb/s. Also TCPIP traces analyzed with Wireshark shows that when the low bandwidth is present we see many RST. (Look ik up with Google) Also the streaming of Bingdata is not that much compared to 4K streaming or downloading with 100Mb/s Also Asobo said it is a CDN issue. P.S. Today with ExpressVPN on New York also bandwidth.
