MSFS will not start - help

Featured Replies

Hi,

When  i start the MSFS from the Xbox app in W10 it just loads for about 30 seconds and then just CTD . This also happens with an empty community folder.

I havent change anything that i am aware off.

Is there a .cfg file to reset like in P3D or a recommendation ?

Is there any chance that you might have too many addons Michael? I know that If I enable all my addons the sim doesn't get past the update part of booting up MSFS. I have to go and untick some of my addons in addon linker for it to work.

Thanks but i dont think so - It worked very well last week.

I noticed the fault is looking at some file in c/Program files but my installations is on another drive (O/Michael)

Is this normal ?

Thanks

Hmm ,

Could it be a W10 update that made this a nightmare ?

I have all my MSFS on O drive and the Flightsimulator.exe sits under O:\MSFS\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content but i dont have rights to it

and pay special attention to the section: DISABLE NON-MICROSOFT APPS

When I had a case of MSFS not starting it ended up being the program Process Lasso - I uninstalled Process Lasso then reinstalled it and then MSFS would start fine.

Did you just move the MSFS files, or was it working OK in this location before?

Something must have changed since you successfully ran MSFS before..  unless the MS servers are acting up which can indeed happen from time to time..

I assume after installing updates, and uninstalling stuff you did a full reboot right? Might be an .exe still running somewhere that prohibits MSFS from strating.

I need to find out to take ownership on those windows folders. Windowsapps and program files. I tried to log out/in of my windows account which made me able to reinstall i guess.

I dont know why i havent the administrator rights as i am logged in as administrator (says the accont)

What on earth has happened here?

MSFS mystery. Its my second reinstall lifetime with MSFS. Last time was after an MSFS update.

My bandwith is bad today so its a 4 hour download.

Thanks Michael Moe

Ps

The Microsoft store did not recognise my software as being bought before this log out/in.

As of today I have a similar issue with MSFS. At start up, after checking for updates it starts syncronising data, but is doing this forever. Program will not start up.

I also switched off process Lasso and I also renamed the Community folder and created a new and empty Community folder. Nothing changed, my sim simply won't start.

Michael, try creating a new folder for MSFS and using the "Move" option in settings.

You stated "Flightsimulator.exe sits under O:\MSFS\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content" in a prior post.

Use Explorer to create a new folder, "O:\MSFS\MSFS\". Since you are the creator, you will also be the owner. Press the Windows key and type "App". Click "Settings App" from the list. Type "Flight" in the search box,and then click the three dots to the right of where it lists Microsoft Flight Simulator. Use the "Move" option to move MSFS to the new folder that you created.

Afterwards, open the UserCfg.opt file from your "C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache" folder and make sure you see "InstalledPackagesPath "O:\MSFS\MSFS" at the bottom.
