While that does work it is a terrible solution really. They also really aren't that performance friendly either.

Who said, did you tried it ??

It is perfect and i have no performance issue at all with this config..

Best ever , thank good i have more than one Monitor in use with MSFS !!

cheers 😉

this topic had me search for a good HUD, and the app FS20_Hud on Github and Flightsim.to appears to do the trick. It's full of options, and I was able to create a small but effective readable tab for those hard to read functions. I have on the top left corner of the monitor, so it barely interferes with the cockpit immersion.  Not perfect, but at least I am able to fly the ATR in cockpit mode.

Looking at videos from “Fly with Magnar”, that discuss the ATR glass cockpit and show close-up views of the PFD/MFD, the font used in the sim version appears to be correct, as well as the relative size and placement of the various elements of the screens.

As Rob Young points out, it is difficult to emulate actual aircraft displays on a computer screen that are clear as the real thing.

What I do is assign custom camera views that are bound to the numeric keypad for quick access. I have views for the PFD/MFD, FMS, engine display etc that are closely zoomed-in which makes them easy to see, as well as a zoomed-out view that shows the perspective that would be seen at normal viewing distance for taxi takeoff and landing.

I've set these views for all "gauge-heavy" dashes, since day one, on the key pad. Always seemed the logical thing to do.

I agree. I feel the same about the CRJ and forces me to not fly it as often.

Yeah, good point. I wonder if there is a way to mod the plane (textures) etc. I was under the impression Asobo allows that now for even encrypted planes finally.

Of course it's desirable to match the real aeroplane... practicality often trumps matching of the real thing when the latter is unachievable... Increasing the "bold-ness" makes fonts like this even more blurry and indistinct. The solution all along would be to make important fonts BIG and readable.

I am a stickler for fonts matching the real plane... Make the font heavier (bold.) At least it would make it more readable (like in the CJ.)

Majestic had this sussed long ago on their FSX Q400. They used an almost one-for-one font copy on the pop-out displays, but for the typeface in the virtual cockpit they made the stroke weight heavier and possibly enlarged it a bit too so it was readable without zooming in lots. Hans could learn from this.

I would be OK with departing from realism just enough that I can see speed and altitude!

Well I actually prefer my Majestic Q400 in MSFS 😇

The only aircraft that was to give a real sense of landing an aircraft, unfortunately never had this with the rest...

Ok back to topic hoping that Hans is able/willing to strike a balance here readability is far more important as an accurate font which is difficult to read...

They allow it for the encrypted planes in the Premium and Deluxe packages but I *think* add-on planes are still fully encrypted

Really make it an option in the EFB to have a bigger font. I guarantee this is a coding effort of 1 minute, especially since there's much space around the selected alt indication on the PFD, so no need to rearrange the other visual elements while enlarging the font.

I have a zoomed camera view of the PFD & MFD, that’s fine, but when I need to dial in a HDG or ALT I don’t have direct access to the knobs on the MCP to do this. How do you handle the knobs while looking at the zoomed view of the P & MFD ‘s? I admit I do have a camera view of the MCP as well with a small view of the PFD & MFD so I can do this, but the ALT & HDG numbers are still hard to read.

EDIT: I do also use the popouts which do seem to be FPS friendly compared to the Aerosoft CRJ. But I of course would rather not.

I'm using a KnobFS device, very helpful and even more in VR 🙂

I doubt Hans reads these forums. I think it would be best to open up a wishlist item in the official forums and hope it gets 500+ votes quickly. Or maybe open up Zendesk tickets.
